"Hi guys..my name is Rafael and I just received an email telling me to came here to forum and introduce myself. So....I 27 yo, and I am a Commercial Pilot and work in the EMBRAER Legacy 5N-RSG.. To start...I`d like to tell the history of the most beautiful baby in the skies! After the incredible sucess of the B747 family, in 1984 Boeing started the new family B747-400 Image Image Image She flew for the firts time at 29/April/1988 and the firts delivery was to Northwest in Jan/1989 Image Image Image She stills the fastest commercial jet in operation...cruizing at M0.86 Image Image Image Image Image Image Image We also had the Combi version B747-400M, flying for the first time at 30/Jun/1989 and KLM was the firts to receive it... Image We can have the B747-400D (Domestic) flying at 18/March/1991 and without winglest. Mainly used in Aisa have a small range, about 1800nm and carry 568 pax! Image Then in 04/May/1983 we had the firts flight of the B747-400F carrying 112,600KG of cargo to 4400nm... Image Some modifications on the family and we had the B747-400 ER (Extend Range) in 31/July/2002 and received by Qantas 3 months later... Image Image Image Image Image Image The ER version can fly 7600nm.. Image The cargo version was also modified to B747-400 ERF (Extend Range Freighter) and show up at 07/September/2002..Now 112.700Kg of cargo at 4900nm... Image Image Image Image Image Image And the cocpkit just look like the Pax version... Image Today only the B747-400ERF are produced by Boeing with some deliveries to do...The pax version are waiting for the -800 model... Image Image One interesting model is the B747-400ABL (Airbone Laser) used by USAF and is derivate from B747-400F Image Image Image Image Image To remeber, The Air Force One is not a B747-400! The engines are massive: Pratt & Whitney PW4062 63,300 lb (281.57 kN) Rolls-Royce RB211-524H2-T 59,500 lb (264.67 kN) General Electric CF6-80C2B5F 62,100 lb (276.23 kN) She flews to more the 210 airports over the World and until 2006, 688 B747 (including the Classics) was sold, making the 747 the Widebody Best-seller... The fabrication list H E R E And...As the Boeing workers said during the B747-800 plannig: Image Forever New Frontiers! I hope you guys like and sorry for the quantity of pictures...I`m just a B747 adicted.... Image :D"
