info on Atlas Air route

Post by simbio »

Hi I am not part of GC VA but I am intrested in cargo flight, I am actually part of a VA and there is somo cargo division, but I have been always intrested in particular on Atlas air.
I am not able to take the chance to be part of your VA firstly because of knowledge (wich in GC are very deep) and second for the time wich with the family is completly gone, maybe one day I will try the test for admission.
Unfortunatly there is no much on the atlas air website and I was interesting to know what kind of route Atlas Air cover for long and short haul in the world, what is the normal weight for those route that usually is loaded , and if there are particular checklists and table performance that Atlas Air use for their 744F fleet.
If you can help me I will be happy to fly on my own and feel part of the atlas air pilot.

Thank you
Fabrizio Pascucci

Ps sorry for my english if it's not clear.

Fabrizio,

First off, don't be intimidated by our operation. If you are familiar with instrument flight, routes, etc that is really about all you need other than to be familiar with one of the required add-ons. As for the Atlas routes, the best thing I can suggest to you is to go to flightaware and search out some of their routes. We don't send too much out from the VA just to keep things integral.

As for checklists etc, I would simply do an internet search for 747 checklists. You will find just about the same thing our guys use. Each person here in actuality probably uses a different checklist anyhow. The other info will be up to our Director of Flight Operations, but I don't imagine your going to get too much from the VA without being a member. Like I said, you should really consider it, your only required one flight per month, other than that, you can fly all you want. Online flight is not required either.

Hi there. Just wanted to tell you we all started by knowing a lot less than we know now and that the main goal here is to have fun with a flight simulator. As far as checklist, like Bryan said you can check the Internet, Avsim or if you become a member, we have here at Globe some checklists you can download. There is of course one that comes with the PMDG.

Hope to see you soon as a pilot. :D :D
