What intrigues me is the size of those engines!! Are they larger than 777 engines? What model are they? Justin

Now the 747 has quirkiness and class whilst the 707 - 727 are just classics. The old British Comet was a looker too."

Sorry guys but I am not able to understand all those countless discussions recently started regarding the A380 visuals. Finally all of those discussions end up in 'butt ugly' A vs B bashing flame wars (easily to be seen on A.net) Aestethics is a matter of personal likes or dislikes - nothing you can get down to measurable numbers or facts and thus matters of discussions. It is a subjective opinion of individuals. With a thread like this with such a title anybody who loves that aircraft could feel insulted and there you have you flamewar. Please guys let's keep this place free from a level A.net has already reached. Just me 2 Eurocents <!--emo&;)--><!--endemo-->

It WAS just a discussion about personal views of aircraft as an artform, not personal criticism of ones taste in aircraft. I like the simplicity of Airbus designs, but it is the quicks of Boeing that make it my favorite. That said, yes, the A380 will use RR Trent 900 motors. Something like 12 ft diameter at the intake. If you go the the RR website, they have photos of the thing. Suprisingly, the engine itself (that is, the compressor/combustion/turbine) is not that much bigger than the 777. It's that first stage fan that is unbelievably huge!"

For one this community is too mature for that nonsense. Though I'm sure most here favour Boeing and it's classics over Airbus, so sorry to any Airbus fans. <!--emo&:)--><!--endemo--> Thought the forum needed a thread (since it's rather quiet here lately) that people might like to respond to, and discussion of new planes is always a good one. There is nothing wrong in stating personal likes or dislikes. Being sick of those A.net (and many other forums as well) flamewars I just wanted to express my feelings about those discussions. It obviously seems that many aviation enthusiasts are getting very emotional when it comes to their favourites <!--emo&;)--><!--endemo--> If this is going to be a discussion about aircraft as an artform, well be my guest. The headline 'Ugliest plane since...' and the first post reading 'Sorry, but planes have to look good! This creation is butt ugly.' didn't sound like a discussion, though <!--emo&;)--><!--endemo--> Personally I like anything that has fixed wings and is able to fly <!--emo&:D--><!--endemo--> While I love the 747-200 for it's grace and perfect lines, I am not sure yet what attracts me to the A380. Besides from impressing me through it's pure size it looks just sweet to me <!--emo&B)--><!--endemo--> Call me crazy - but I love the nose <!--emo&--><!--endemo--> "

I also could say the upcomimg 7E7 is ugly like a ""fish"". These kind of discussions does not belong into this forum. Unfortunately I do not have moderator rights otherwise I would close this thread."
