Do you have to log a certain amount of hours? Also the pilot handbook says you get paid as a first officer but I was told in the forums that only captains get paid, was this changed? Thanks, Alex <!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd--> Alex, The basis for promotion is that each Regional manager must try to maintain an approximately 50/50 split between Flight Officers and Captains within their region, so as more pilots join (or as captains leave) the Regional Manager will promote the next most senior F/O to Captain. Once made a Captain there is no demotion if the balance changes the other way (due to F/Os leaving). It is up to the Regional Manager who he promotes but, as mentioned above, it is usually on seniority but if the next most Senior F/O has very few hours or has missed some bids/flights they may be left as F/O and a more ""junior"" F/O promoted in their place. This method may be reviewed. "
"Thanks for the responses, but thats horrible news, considering in my area I was the only F/O to actually bid on a flight for 2 months in a row! The Asia and Australia HUB could use more new pilots! All the flights are ridiculously long though but I find myself enjoying the scenery since I never flew in that part of the world really much before."
