Recently I was reading a DC10 operations manual for a major carrier & in it they recomend lighting just the #1 & #3 engines for taxi & to only start the #2 engine just prior to take off. Apparently this will conserve some 300lbs of fuel during an anverage taxi. I am guessing that with the 747 such a procedure is not used. Is this correct? Many thanks for any info!
