"This needs addressing. Before I say one word I want to make sure that Jose knows this is not about him in any way. I heard this quote from one of our pilots. ""It makes your and Justin's gold wings worthless, and marginalizes the contributions of dam near everyone on the roster. I was under the impression that the hall of fame was designed to show effort and dedication to this VA in the form of trying to reach perfection, as a matter of speaking. Now taking a new pilot and placing him in a position to wonder why me - is a mistake and a slap in the face of every other pilot who has been trying hard to do a good job. I could go on and on but I will not. Instead I am resigning from this VA and would like every pilot here to know that I am not sneaking out the back door. As long as you have made the GOLD WINGS WORTHLESS I would like my name removed from the list. I had no intention of leaving until I realized that some one in this organization has no idea how to reward great effort and dedication. Captain Bert Kuiper"

I'm a real life pilot and some of my landings in the 742 are atrocious (still better than the autoland mind you.) If you take it that seriously then you've lost the plot. If I get gold wings, which I doubt, I'm certainly not aiming for it. I'm aiming to enjoy myself, try and do better than I did last flight. That's what gives me the pleasure not some badge that will only bolster my pride! Regards Neville "

"I must admit to being surprised by this months pick as well. Sure it's a hobby, but there is still an investment in time, and each one of us has bought a copy of Ralphs payware model. Many of us have also purchased Flightkeeper at Ralphs behest. I don't think anyone is out of line to expect some equity to be used in the selection of the Hall of Famers. As much as I like seeing some luv thrown the F/O's way (since that's what I am) putting someone with a months time and 43 hours into the Hall Of Fame couldn't help but cause some head scratching. It's obvious alot of people here are wondering about this, because here it is 8pm EST US and there still isn't a congrats thread for Jose. After Bert and Justin were honored, several people chimed in to offer congratulations almost as soon as the announcement was made. Neville didn't congratulate him in his post, either. Jose', let me be the first to congratulate you. Clearly you have shown Ralph and the management something. Your bio post was sincere and honest, and you seem a thoughtful and good fellow. Good luck with your real world flying! But it seems that this months pick was made using criteria other than those that were used to select Bert and Justin, and this can only breed sour grapes. To not use a uniform set of criteria will only lower morale. And since I'm also not going to sneak out the back door, you can color me gone also. After all, I'm the guy who Bert quoted in his post. Cheers, all."
