"I am preparing for my very first Polar flight and used the Dispatch Generator. After printing it out, I realized that although I entered the tail number of a 744, it listed the aircraft as a 742. Does the dispatch generator not allow for the 744 yet? I assume this means that the fuel calculations are invalid for this aircraft? Anyway, I know the 744F has only been in our fleet for a couple of weeks, but I hope it will eventually be possible for the Dispatch Generator to recognize 744s in the future. It is a very elegant tool and I very much appreciate all the work that must have gone into it. Andrew"

"Howdy, I've only flown 2 flights myself, and so far, I would not rely too seriously on the fuel calculations as they strongly depend on the flight conditions at the time you fly. While there is a section for weather on the displatch, the Jepseen real world weather I used didn't match the dispatch either time, mostly because I prepaired for my flight in advance and real world weather is constantly changing. If you are flying east to west, the head winds have been BAD, and will seriously curtail your fuel economy. You may also consider changing altitude periodically for the best flight profile. While probably not realistic, I have gotten my best fuel economy at, near or above FL400. Just don't try to get there right away. Follow the step climb procedure. For what its worth... Anyway, I was just curious if they plan to update it to at least recognize the 744. Thanks, Andrew"

"Hey guys, Here's a fuel planner that I find pretty helpful and useful for the 744. The file name is fuelplanner_v2.01.zip on AVSIM. Mark"
