"Hello guys, Suppose I take off for my polar bid-flight, but after v2 engine 3 suddenly is on fire. So, if I make it back to the departure field in one piece, have the engine repaired / replaced and then take off again, does the first flight (how short it may be) count for the roster? Just curious
And now for something completely different: I know that FS ATC has it's limits, but on my last flight egll-kjfk those boys have me on an approach which led me through the skyskrapers of Manhattan. I recently purchased Radarcontact and it really makes a difference!! Safe landings, Wijnand"

"Just one word for you: VATSIM
But hey, I am biased to the extreme (Senior Instructor with VATSIM for quite some time now...)"

Hi Wijnand, Absolutely your first flight counts, make sure you send in the pirep! Explain what happened in the remarks area which I believe is avialable on both FSFK and FSACARS. Justin"

"I agree with Thomas, Vatsim,... well as long as there are controlers were you want to fly... Fs atc is really anoying, and heaven forbid they tell you to go around with low fuel on board
Thomas, I understood on vatsim no emergencies allowed on line, or is that for the "we have terrorist on board" or "someones having medical emergency need to land" guys. With more of these complex add ons out with failures simulated, it can sure make the flight more interesting. Are these types of emergencies allowed on vatsim? ed mosier 1287"

"Emergencies are allowed on VATSIM but the controller has a right to decline handling the emergency. In most cases, it adds to the realism but during very busy times such as fly-ins, people who pull of an "emergency" just for the fun of it usually are told to disconnect or fix the engine mid-air... What is NOT allowed on VATSIM are hijackings. I believe that as soon as you even try to squawk 7500, you get automatically disconnected. Some additional details over here:
