Atlas operates some scheduled flights on behalf of Qantas Freight. This is done on a ACMI-basis where Atlas provides Aircraft + Crew + Maintenance + Insurance. Since it is a Qantas scheduled flight, the flight number starts with QF (but you need to use GTI or 5Y for FSAcars or FSFK). The aircraft is not painted in Qantas colors, so you'll need to use an Atlas plane."

No. It is an Atlas flight, but because it operates on a fixed schedule, we put it on the regular board rather than the Atlas charters board."

"Something I have been a bit unclear upon is this: According to the manual we are required to complete at least on Polar bid flight per month. Since some Atlas flights are now appearing in the bid system, do these count the same as Polar flights in terms of fulfilling our monthly obligations, or do we still need to bid on a Polar flight in addition to bidding on Atals flights on the bid form? Hope this makes sense."

Any flight chosen from the bid system counts toward your obligation of one flight per month."

Interesting, what about the POLAR scheduled flights from and into Dubai having "EK" flight numbers? Will I have to use one of those ATLAS aircraft painted in EMIRATES colors then? :?"

No. What we have is a QANTAS flight flown by an Atlas plane. The schedule and cargo belong to QANTAS and all we provide is a plane + crew. These flights are included in the monthly bidding system because they are flown according to a fixed schedule, leaving the Atlas board for true on-demand and ad-hoc charters.

Interesting you should ask, Bodo. I just happen to have bought the latest issue of Airliners magazine yesterday and there is a multi-page article dedicated to Emirates SkyCargo. In the article, the CEO states that Atlas is providing six aircraft (five 744F's and one 742F), with four of these planes being painted in Emirates colors. To answer your question, there are no Polar (PO) flights in and out of Dubai in the current schedule. These are all Emirates (EK) flights using Atlas equipment. Based on the CEO's statement above, you should be using an Atlas aircraft in either Emirates or Atlas colors. Our current VA schedule is based on the real schedule for the week of September 18. Looking at that week, I see that the Emirates flights were flown by N408MC, N415MC, N492MC, N497MC, N498MC (all 744's), and N527MC (742). These must be the six aircraft the CEO is talking about. I also see that N499MC and N493MC (both 744) flew an occasional EK flight that week but they are usually flying something else. Hope this helps..."
