"Hey All, Couple of q's on my Open Board flight from KLAX-RKSI-VHHH! 1) I took a look at the distance from KLAX-RKSI and it looks like its going to be around the 5700NM area! Will I need to make a fuel stop on the way? 2) I noticed, that as this is an openboard with Polar Air Cargo, Is there any exact amount of cargo that I need to carry? or is it just any amount over 50,000lbs? Thanks, Ross S"

"1) The flight from KLAX to RKSI is usually nonstop and should take 12h45m. 2) You can fly any payload over 50,000 lbs."

Well ... huh ... the flight KLAX-RKSI can be flown non-stop with the 744, but if you are using the 742 you might very well need a fuel stop at PANC. Better make sure your calculations are correct. By the way, Craig Applegate who works for Polar said that flights out of KLAX usually carry around 20 tonnes of payload, so you should probably go with the minimum of 50,000 lbs."

"I have flown the flight non-stop in the 747-200 RFP with 60,000 lb. The tip some one gave me once is watch your climbs, stepclimb .78 mach and don't fly faster than .82 mach at cruise altitude. I landed with an 1.5 to 2 hours of fuel left."

If you fly around Mach .80 you should be ok.

"Hey Guys, Thanks for all the tips! I read on another topic somewhere about a stop in PANC and was wondering if I should do one! After all the tips i will try the stepclimb at .78Mach and the cruise at .82! See how it goes 8) and yeah i will probably take 55,000lbs of cargo (or somewhere near). If I need to make a fuel stop however, will FSFK accept this? Thanks again, Ross S"

If you make a fuel stop - log it as 2 separate flights."

"Thanks Michel, So just send 2 logs, No.1 would be KLAX-PANC, NO.2 PANC-RKSI, NO.3 Would be RKSI-VHHH One final question though, How come the flight plan is like this: Image Isnt this why the flight is soo long? Does everyone else fly this route? or do you fly direct? Thanks, Ross S"

"That is because the earth is round but the system can't show it that way. When I was using it, it was fine even when it look like that. Same thing in FSBuild."

"Ohh I see, so I wont actually fly along the North of the Atlantic, It just has to show that on the map. I will actually only fly the semi-circle on the map? Have I got it? (or not!) Ohh and one more thing, me and Flight Levels dont get on very well, so could someone give me a suitable flight level for the flight? I thought about FL350 for the cruise but maybe heading towards FL390 im not sure? Thanks, Ross S"

"If you are using RVSM and are heading West, the Flight Levels allowed are FL300, 320, 340, 360, 380 and 400. 8)"

"Oooooppppppsssss, I flew at FL350  :x Oh well cant go back now! I will complete the 2nd half tomorrow! BTW, I made the 5778NM journey in the 742 with 59,140lbs of fuel left!!! I was suprised! I am now a proud owner of the PMDG 744+744F 8) One more question, I want to buy FSBuild but the simmarket place wont accept my mums card even with her own profile, PMDG did! Any Ideas or other sites where i can get it? Thanks, Ross S"
