"Well, never thought I would be so frustrated with the supposed "help" that a product offers before you buy it. I have had Radar Contact since December of 05 and have only had a couple of issues with it. The first somehow never repeated so no problem, but four days ago my Radar Contact went down for no reason at all. Debugged and sent the file as instructed, then got a reply something to this nature "Hmmmmm looks like its a problem with a file" NO DUH Einstien!!!!! Glad he could help right? So anyhow in the absence of further help from "JD LLC" I just uninstalled and re-installed, but then I need a new key code to activate... Well.. Going on day 2 of e mails back and forth trying to just get a key code. Anyhow, venting!!!!!!
But at the same time, want to just share my experience. Never had this much frustration with a product at all."

"Haven't had any real issues with RC, but I haven't gotten the latest update out of fear I would run in to the problems you've just described. My RC isn't installed on my "root" drive, so I'll need a new key. At this point, Vatsim, IVAO, and the default ATC just aren't options. When you're the "only game in town", you can turn customer service in to a customer circus, and get away with it. Anyhow, good luck."

"Well I appreciate the encouragement, I do know it ran well after my upgrade. I did a flight from MMMX to MMGL and it went fine, I exited all programs in preparation for my second leg from MMGL to KHSV, when I selected the option for local ATIS info, it gave me an error message and thats where it all began. I traded a total of 11 emails to RC people they finally sent me this huge long code for a key, it didn't work, so I e mailed back and told them and haven't heard a thing since. I don't know what to do, I hate being a pest, but my money spent just like anyone elses if you know what I mean."

"I understand, totally. Asking to get what you paid for isn't being a pest. I can't imagine what's going on. When I originally bought RC, it only took 40 minutes to get a key. Maybe he lost his motivation. Frustration like that can really zap the fun out of simming. I'll say one thing for RC, it sure eats frames. Drags me from 30fps to 15.
Nothing else hits me anywhere near that hard."

"Yes, your right on the frame rates, mine especially if clouds are present skips, which they are supposed to have an upgrade for fixing that, but I'm afraid to do much if I'm lucky enough to even get them to reply to me. I still have not heard from them and sent another e mail tonight. If anyone has any pull with John Dekker, please let me know. I don't like the way this is going at all."

Are you running RC with high priority? It's somewhere early in the manual. You have to change the shortcut properties to say /HIGH or something like that."

"Michel, I have no idea but will definitely go straight to that when I get the next opportunity to look at it. I do know it had operated with little problems until it just decided to what in my opinion seemed to be just "dropped" a sound file into nowhere. It was just not in the files anymore and nothing had been done to cause that. It was in the winwood 99 file that the file came up missing."

"Bryan, Got an email from John Dekker that his mother passed away last night. He'll be out for a few days. Could be why it took RC a while to respond to your emails this past week. I'm sure he has other things on his mind right now."

"Well, I hate to hear that, its not a problem, he got back to me yesterday during the day and got it all squared away."

"Bryan As a matter of interest, why are Vatsim and Ivao not an option? (I can understand the default ATC,- it's rubbish) Flying online with Vatsim is great fun, much more realistic than something that is just a programme. Regards John"

"Hi John, well I don't have a qualified answer since I have never tried VATSIM or IVAO. I have only heard from others some pros and cons, pros being its life-like, cons being that it is not uncommon to run into many areas that have no ATC at all. I do know that if I were to try it, I would definitely need to be able to spend some serious time learning how they expect you to operate, and lately I have not had a lot of time to devote to that. I have had lots of past experience with real world ATC in flying, but its been a while

"@Bryan: Glad you got it all straightened out. @John: I was the one who said Vatsim and IVAO aren't options. The reason they aren't options, is because of the lack of controller coverage and the emptiness of the skies. To me, RC and my AI at 100% are much more realistic. I flew a number of flights on Vatsim, and there was rarely ATC. When there was ATC, it was... well, not realistic. Once, I was landing at KLAX and the controller (who seemed to be a rookie) descended me a little late, so I went missed. The controller apologized and seemed shaken up. I said no problem, just vector me back around and we'll try it again. Controller again apologized and disconnected. Just left me flying around. Luckily, I was the only plane within 100 miles of KLAX.
The last time I flew on Vatsim, I had an approach controller at KATL. Either the guy had a speech impediment, or he had accidentally swallowed his mic. I couldn't understand him, so I asked him to switch to text. He wouldn't switch. I asked him several times to switch, but he ignored my requests. So, he continually had to repeat commands... I finally landed at the world's busiest airport. I was the only plane.
Soooooooo, he decided to give me the "treatment". He welcomed me to KATL about six times. I assume he ordered me to taxi to the gate at some point, though I can't be sure. I just taxied to the gate anyway, and disconnected. I haven't been back since. I can give you more stories along a similar theme, but I'd be beating a dead horse. RC isn't perfect, but it's far closer to reality than Vatsim, IMHO."

"Speaking of reality, since I removed all the FS9 default commercial traffic, RC combined with Ultimate Traffic has been very neat! I heard a controller when I took off from Belgium yesterday and I have never heard her at all on RC before. She sounded very real for the country I was in. Anyone that hasn't found their nich in realistic traffic should consider UT. Once you remove all the FS9 stuff, you find all sorts of realistic AI traffic."

"Got to agree with Bryan, got UT the other day and its great to see the National Airlines of the Country your flying from or to plus to hear them on ATC both the generic and RC4 Mike
