GCI Cargo Loader

Post by hawkeyeted »

"OK, question for all you programing gurus: Anyone know why the GCI Cargo Loader would stop loading cargo into the aircraft.cfg file? All settings with the loader are correct (paths to the appropriate .cfg). Observations: 1) No load value changes in the .cfg file after different loads entered into the GCI loader and saved to the appropriate .cfg file. 2) No load value changes in the loader template (.gct file) 3) Checked the registry to ensure everything is pointing to the right place, and all appears to check normal. Paths to the .cfg files and .gct files are correct I'm stumped, so I've been manually loading cargo via the FS menu. Not an entire pain, but disappointing nonetheless. Is there a reason the template isn't changing, which is what I think the root cause it. Any takers? Thanks in advance!"

"Mike, I think you really did it in last time you ran it. I found it parked low on Hydraulic fluid."

"Well, here is my update: Still no luck with the loader. However, I found why we get the dreaded "slide" into the weeds when using the FS payload menu. It appears the the load stations within the .cfg file are a little too far aft. If you load the Main Cargo Deck, and Fwd and Aft Cargo holds to capacity, the ZFWCG seems to be right on centerline. However, when you start adding gas, TOCG starts moving aft, and she falls on her butt. Therefore, as you burn fuel in flight, the CG never gets forward enough to plant the NLG firmly enough on the deck when you land because you have a minimum fuel load to land with. So.....I swapped the Main Cargo Deck load station with the Crew load station, and guess what? Landed with ~95% cargo capacity and ~10% fuel load and she landed PERFECT! All trims prescribed by the RTTO calculator were spot on. And, it seemed that the trims were more responsive and I didn't have to "chase" the pitch trim like I did before. Here's what you need to do: -Back up your original aircraft.cfg file for your Atlas and Polar aircraft. -Paste the following into the "Weight and Balance" section in the .cfg file, overwriting the old W&B info: [WEIGHT_AND_BALANCE] // Cargo Load Data for the 747-200 Classic (Ready for Pushback) empty_weight = 342000 max_number_of_stations = 7 Station_load.0 = "78400.00, 102.00, 0.00, 0.00, Main Cargo Deck" // Main Cargo Deck Station_load.1 = "70.00, 107.00, 0.00, 0.00, Personal Gear" // Personal Gear Station_load.2 = "100.00, -80.00, 0.00, 0.00, Food" // Food Station_load.3 = "54000, 12.00, 0.00, 0.00, Fwd Hold" // Forward Holds Station_load.4 = "4200, -200.00, 0.00, 0.00, Bulk Hold" // Bulk Hold Station_load.5 = "42000, -120.00, 0.00, 0.00, Aft Hold" // Aft Hold Station_load.6 = "860.00, 110.00, 0.00, 0.00, Crew" // Crew // END of Passenger/Cargo Load Data -Now, run the GCI Loader. When you have worked out your uplift numbers, take note in the GCI loader the load weight in each station (No need to save it, duh!). -Start FS. You can now load the weights in the FS payload menu as they were prescribed in the GCI loader. Its not perfect, but it is better than no loader at all. :("
