Hi all
Whilst getting my computer fixed re.- the no-sound problem, one of the techies said that Microsoft have had enough of Vista and will not put out any more updates for it . It seems no matter what they do, they cannot get it to run well and have given up....
I presume that means tjhey have something else in the planning stage.
Just a thought for anyone thinking of moving to it.
Has anyone heared anything about this? or was he dreaming?
Cheers
John

Wierd thing is, I know that the field is actually leaning towards positive for Vista nowdays.

Not a Microsoft employee Bryan, he works for a mob who build and fix computers called Pro Computers.
I know some of them tend to exagerate a bit, but I asked him several times and he was adamant that this is the situation.
I didn't ask him where he might have got it from, maybe I should have!!
He also said that everything is coming out with Vista on it now, but then I suppose they have no other choice.
It is very hard to get a new computer with XP.

The only thing I can find is that Microsoft is dropping all support for Office 2003 with the dawning of Office 08 I think it is. At anyrate, I could not find one thing at all that even talked about the rumor. If they are, he must have some serious inside news on this one.
I do know Office 08 is made to operate on the Vista OS and I don't think it's out, or at least not totally out yet, so if that is the case, Microsoft would be setting themselves up with a new software but yanking the OS out from under it at the same time which sounds strange.
Let me know if you find something on that.

From what I can understand Microsoft is trying to play catch up with all the new hardware thats been released over the last few months ( Quad Core Processors, ETC. ).
It seems like they just threw WinXP 64 Bit and Vista out there so we could use the 64Bit processors at their full potential instead of only using half of their capabilities.
Now that 128Bit processors are out in the market Bill Gates and his Possy has to design a new program that can utilize the 128Bit processors on top of making updates for Vista.
I would get frustrated at this also...

I have serious doubts about MS canning Vista. They're running heavy advertising (the Windows Mojave ads), trying to convince people the only thing wrong with Vista, is in their heads.
The next version of Windows isn't due out for two or three more years. As flawed as Vista is, MS will have to continue to update it. They've conned or forced (mostly forced) Vista to 18% of the market so far, so they' can't abandon it, now.
I bet MS wishes it could take a Mulligan on Vista.

I bet MS wishes it could take a Mulligan on Vista.
That and about a hand full of other products they produced....
FSX being one of them.
I was rather upset because really the only thing FS9 needed improvement on was the ATC and AI.....
I was very dissapointed when I found out that was the only thing in FSX that didint change
.

Mine seems to be working very well, of course with any of these OS' anything can happen. I mean even with XP, I had some huge issues on a couple of occasions but I didn't blame it all on the OS. Its computers what can you say?

I totally agree. ATC, AI and weather were the big things everyone was asking for improvements on. I don't recall anyone asking for rivets that cast shadows. I must have been sick that day.
