I think there are still some issues with GC's webhost. I use FSACARS, and after a while, I sometimes disappear from the map. I usually have the map running on another computer, and my web browser times out frequently. I still get a lot of timeouts just surfing through the GC website and forums. Is the webhost still looking at this issue, or do they say all is well?
I'm glad to see I'm not the only one having this issue. It seems more often than not that my flight doesn't show up on the world map either. And once you disappear that's it, you're not back for that flight! And also get a lot of timeouts too...
Yep, same with me. Once you disappear, you don't come back. A virtual Bermuda Triangle."

I'm not sure if you guys are talking about GCP or FSACARS but with GCP you can uncheck and recheck the Online Position Updates - ON/OFF option at the bottom of the screen. Each time the status of that check box changes a position report is automatically sent to the flight map."

You may still be using GCP2.0 rather than GCP2.1 if those options don't appear which can also explain why you didn't show up on the flight map as that wasn't a feature in GCP2.0. Does the splashscreen with GCP logo and version number in the lower right appear when you open GCP? If so, we can continue troubleshooting. If not, with GCP2.2 just around the corner you may as well wait to update GCP until 2.2 is released.
Hi Justin, I recently downloaded the setup of GCP 2.1 and installed it fresh, so actually I should use that unless the setup contain a wrong .exe file...."

Ok, did you use GCP2.1 before or after the issue you stated above?"

Justin, I'm using FSACARS. Judging by the comments from others, it really doesn't matter which program you are using. They all seem to be losing connectivity with the GC website. With FSACARS, it logs just fine, but you disappear from the world map, and you never show back up for the remainder of the flight. Sometimes it takes two or three attempts to send in the pirep. It's not a show stopper, but it certainly is annoying. There was talk about connectivity issues a while back, but it never seemed to get resolved. If anything, it seems to have gotten worse."

"My issues were with FSAcars as well. Logs fine most of the time. BTW, Justin, can you include the option of 1 hour for how often GCP autosaves the flight? I always have a ton of flights to delete from my "Flights" folder with the autosave set at "15 minutes". And if I remember right, the window that comes up to delete those flights, well it doesn't work 'cause they are still there. If that worked I wouldn't mind the 15 min option. Thanks Justin for all the work you put in for our enjoyment!"

Ok, so the problem is actually the website performance which will be fixed shortly. I can certainly add an option for the 1 hr interval and I may as well add a 30 minute interval while I'm at it. I'll put that in this version that will be released very soon. As for the deletion of saved flights, I too had that problem in GCP2.0 but I fixed it in GCP2.1 and it seems to be working for me. There are some saved flights that are not deleted and maybe those are the flights you are seeing. GCP currently does not delete the block out/in saved flights with file names that look like "Flight# DEP_ARR Date" (PO183 KLAX_VHHH 20071103). Enroute file names are "Tail# FSUTCTime" (N453PA 2317). Are you seeing a lot of the latter file names? Secondly, do you, and others, prefer that ALL saved flights be deleted including block out/in?"

Ok, this is a new problem in that case. Hang tight and we'll try again with GCP2.2 as that will be available this weekend. That will give us a completely fresh install and we'll start working from there if the issue persists."

Thanks for the added options on the intervals. I have yet to use GCP2.1 for a flight but will at the end of the week, so hopefully that saved flights deletion will work for me too. Yes, I do see a lot of the (N453PA 2317) saved flights, every 15 mins. for an 8 hr flight. I would prefer that ALL saved flights be deleted as long as I know the pirep went through and logged OK. Thanks Justin..."
