AVsimproblems

Here is where the coffee machine and Coke machine are kept. Please clean up after yourself and do not remove the magazines from this area. A good place to exchange thoughts with Operations personel and other pilots.

AVsimproblems

Post by wijnand »

Guys,

have a look at this thread:

http://forum.ivao.aero/index.php?topic=110215.0

This is the text from Tom Allensworth:
======================================================================================================================================
"We regret to inform the flight simulation community that on Tuesday, May 12, AVSIM was hacked and effectively destroyed. The method of the hack makes recovery difficult, if not impossible, to recover from.

Both servers, that is the library / email and web site / forum servers were attacked. AVSIM is totally offline at this time and we expect to be so for some time to come. We are not able to predict when we will be back online, if we can come back at all. We will post more news as we are able to in the coming days and weeks."

Some people obviously don't have better things to do
======================================================================================================================================

It seems that Avsim hired a guy who eventually effectively destroyed their library. Files gone, forums gone.
I hope that they will recover.

Take care,

Wijnand

That's very bad (and sad) news. Luckily for us FS users, there is still flightsim.com

Apparently they know who did it, and it was done from the inside. A recently hired IT director from the UK is under investigation. This even made the BBC:

Tomas, I'm watching you! :twisted:

But seriously, this is very sad and frustrating news. I will draft a letter to be sent to Tom on behalf of all of us at GC.
