BAW 3462 ( Not recognized by GCP)

Post by jacques »

Hi Bryan and Mike,

I flew BAW 3462 from Chennai(VOMM) to EGSS but GCP was unable to recognize BAW as a legitimate airline. :( I thought about trying to add it, but then thought better of it. I've got all the info from the flight , if you'll let me know how you wish to receive it. I know you are bombarded by strange offers through your admin email  , but if I put the flight number in the header will that allow you to find it amongst all the more... ahem... interesting reading? Just let me know!!
-edit- So the flight was from the monthly bid, so I would think this isn't really an Atlas/Titan issue, but if you can help then that's great :) . If not, should I contact Luc? And should Justin be notified so he can change GCP if we are to have more BAW flights?

Thanks guys!

Hmmm... I guess the BAW flights are new for Globe and someone (*cough*) forgot to tell us Admin guys that those should be recognized flight numbers. I will make a note to allow that particular callsign when you submit a PIREP. I am not sure if GCP needs an update - Justin will be able to answer that one.

For now, file it as a GTI flight. On a sidenote, does anyone know if we fly them in BAW or Atlas colours?

I think they are in Atlas colors.

Yes, Allan, the flight was conducted by an Atlas aircraft : N493MC . The flight populated in GCP as BAW 3462. I tried submitting the flight but it would not allow a flight with BAW as an airline, and would not allow an edit to be made in the field. I thought about adding the airline under the tools menu, but then thought it really was not my place to do so. Yeah, Tomas, I jumped on that flight when I saw it because it was unusual (British Airways) and I really liked the city pairing! :D I wasn't disappointed--it was a great flight!

GCP has the airlines hard coded into it. If the airline isn't in that list, as BAW is not, GCP will disallow the submission of the PIREP regardless of what the server is willing to accept. To add BAW, an update to the GCP program is required. For now, change any BAW flight to GTI before flight and then the PIREP should be able to be sent.

I originally programmed GCP this way to keep the integrity of the possible pirep submissions to preclude the possibility of fraudulent pireps being entered. I will look into an alternate method that would allow new airlines to be allowed simply by updating a file off the server so that a whole GCP program update is no longer required.

As I mentioned earlier, anyone flying a BAW flight number, change the airline code manually to GTI until further notice.

Hi Justin,

Thanks for the reply! That was the point I was trying to make, but didn't make very well. I tried to change the airline code in the "select flight" field of GCP from BAW to GTI but the field would not allow the change. And I was a bit confused as to manually entering a flight, since I've never done so, but I finally saw which field would allow that. So, Thank you very much for your help :D I copied the log from the flight and sent it to Luc explaining what happened, but I'm not yet sure if he's seen it. In the meantime, I'll keep flying and having fun :D And thanks for all the effort you put in to making this an exceptional VA!

This must be an open board flight as we do not have any Atlas charters for British Airways at all. I think we only have two outside carrier flights. All of our flights are GTI regardless. When you pick a flight, if you get it off the Open Board flights it would be handled by Michel. There are some Atlas flights on that board which does make it a bit confusing, but be sure and make note of what board you are on when you bid a flight.

Yes, all the BAW flights are scheduled Polar flights. I moved this thread out of the Charter forum.
