"Hey guys! I am new here, and got the ready for pushback 742. Here is my problem though <!--emo&:(--><!--endemo-->. When I use it, I get really bad frame rates, which really hurts my flying times. Is there any other way to use a different, freeware 747, that takes up less Frame rates? Thanks guys, John Landes"

"No worrys, I have Microsoft Anti-Spyware beta. Im kinda a computer geek, so I keep my puppy clean <!--emo&:)--><!--endemo-->. Well, Its dual P3 933mgz, radeon 9800 pro 128 mb, 512 mb ram. My settings in FS are somewhat nice, I just dont want to loose the realistic feel, and make the graphics suck, if you know what I mean <!--emo&:)--><!--endemo--> Also, i dont run anything at all in the background. If Anything, I run things on my laptop, which is not at all related to my computer <!--emo&:)--><!--endemo-->"

"I think the weak point is the double p3, fs is not running more efficient on double CPU machines. You could try disabling AI traffic and autogen effects in FS first, they are hard on CPU. You may also try to decrease level of mesh complexity and cloud details. In fs9.cfg, give TEXTURE_BANDWIDTH_MULT a value of 200 or 400. Limit your frames per second to around 20 (or even less, depens what speed your FS is smooth at). This parameter is responsible for the rate data is transferred to your graphic card, so you don't break anything in here. A thing called TERRAIN_EXTENDED_LEVELS defines the number of scenery complexity levels. The lower the number, the less smooth terrain detail level transition, but it improves performance. But, you have to try it yourself. Try values like 1-10 and even as high as 1000 or more. I don't know a golden rule here, unfortunately. TERRAIN_DEFAULT_RADIUS TERRAIN_EXTENDED_RADIUS These two tell the FS at what distance should each level of detail start/stop. Try lowering the 2nd one, your terrain might loose some good look, but we're fighting for performance <!--emo&;)--><!--endemo-->"
