"Earlier today I sent an e-mail to all pilots regarding the few that have not been fulfilling their obligations with regards to monthly bids and monthly flying of at least one route. The pilots manual clearly states that all pilots must bid on at least one route per month and in your welcome e-mail it was mentioned that you must fly at least one route per month. A small percentage of the pilots have not been doing this and it looks bad for all pilots who do join in to make this VA worth running. We understand that new pilots have not had a chance to bid yet and are looking forward to the bids opening on the 17th of each month so that they can join in. While they are waiting there are lots of Open Board and Atlas Charter flights available. The bottom line is that pilots who do not participate as expected will not be kept on the roster. In a real airline (which we are trying hard to simulate) if pilots do not show up for work, they wouldn't even get the courtesy of a call to tell them they have been dismissed. We have pilots that have not flown a route for 6 months now and are still on the roster. Over the next few days you can expect our pilot roster to shrink by a few percentage points and those slots will be filled by new pilots. We do accept requests for short term Leave of Absence but we have some that have been in this state for several months. If you must be away as all of us are from time to time, please submit a Leave of Absence request and inform us of the time period required. If the time period is acceptable you will be informed as to your status. If you require several months then you should resign and rejoin when you are able to resume flying again. The administrators have a very time consuming task to run this VA in their spare time and anything you and I can do to make their job easier is always being looked at. "
