The Great Globe Fly-in

Here is where the coffee machine and Coke machine are kept. Please clean up after yourself and do not remove the magazines from this area. A good place to exchange thoughts with Operations personel and other pilots.

I already bumped the number of TS users so that won't be a problem. What about callsigns?? We should each have a unique sign so we can identify each other in the MP session. Pilot numbers or forum names would be fine. I would opt for the forum names since they are probably more recognizable.

I have been thinking about the details of the execution of the fly-in in the background so even though this topic has been stagnant for a few days, the plans are still being worked on and I think the solution is solved for the most part. I will discuss the execution of dispatches/flights with Michel then fill you in with the details here. Stay tuned. Justin "

"Are there any interfacing issues with using different versions of FS (i.e. 2004 vs. 2002)? Some of our pilots are still using 2002 with RFPv1 (yours truly included <!--emo&--><!--endemo--> ). Thanks, Mark"

Ok fellow pilots! We have a great start on signups for the fly-in but it would be great to see a few more. We have 20 Teamspeak slots now so let's use them all up! lee

I would think you can intermix FS versions because at the user level the multiplayer system is identical between FS2002 and FS2004. RFPv1 vs V2 will not be an issue because at most we will have to trade aircraft titles from our aircraft.cfg files which the player on the other end can attach to any airplane on their system. "Ok, after discussing details with Michel here is what we came up with and the procedure to expect. Date/Time: Feb 25th, 2100-2400Z Route: KORD-KMIA, estimated block time - 02:55 TeamSpeak: Yes Online ATC: No Flightplan: A dispatch and flight will be pre-generated and the PDF file will be included in the bid post. Bidding: Will be just like bidding for an Atlas Charter and on the Atlas Charter forum. Michel will release the flights on Feb 23rd for bidding on a first come first serve basis. These flights are only for those participating in the fly-in. Cargo: Will be different between flights and not published except in the dispatch release...got to have some suspense <!--emo&;)--><!--endemo--> Paint: Polar and Atlas colors, each flight will be designated a livery. Departure time: Right now we are planning on 2100, 2105, 2145, 2150, 2230, 2235, 2315, 2320, 2355, 2400. More departure times will be easy to add if we need more. As of current there are couple extra planned flights than there are pilots in case a couple pilots join at the last minute. Also, participating pilots will have more options to bid a flight that best fits their real world schedule. Parking: Will be assigned for each flight at departure and destination airports. I will create an AFCAD file for KORD and KMIA with our parking. I will modify a Project AFCAD file for this project. Notes: Minutes before the first departure, I will release a short document with current and forecast weather and expected SID/STAR data. Justin "

"Bad news...for me anyway. Of all days and times, I just happened to be scheduled to do a ""photo"" flight on the 25th initially from 4-6 pm my time (the flying is scheduled for the same day, 3-6 pm my time). I have my doubts that I will be able to participate by doing a flight, which I was really looking forward to. I still have to call the person interested in this flight and get more details. Maybe things will change as this is only preliminary planning. If the [real world] flight does not change, I will have time to be on TS for a little bit and watch the first couple flights depart. At any rate, at the end of the fly-in I'd like to hear comments from those participants on what can be done better. So far this is the most robust ""fly-in"" I've ever seen and Michel and I have put some considerable time into the planning and fine details, we hope you enjoy the flight. I guess what I'm hinting at with the combination of myself probably not getting to participate with a flight and getting feedback on the execution of this fly-in is that there is a strong possibility of a ""next"" fly-in as I look into March. Lastly, I have the PAC/GTI parking put into an afcad file for KORD and KMIA (details on that before departure time, a couple days before in fact) for FS2004. Is there anyone willing to make KORD and KMIA afcads for FS2002 if I email a picture of what each parking area for each airport should look like along with all the parking spot data you need? Please let me know here or via email...j1erickson@msn.com Justin "

Once you bid, you will get a release with flight plan, required cargo, parking stands at both ends, and you'll also be assigned an Atlas or Polar livery. We will post the current weather and applicable SID and STAR. Then it's just a matter of giving us a credit card number and you're off for a few hours filled with excitement. <!--emo&;)--><!--endemo--> "
