Doesnt 15000 lbs. landing fuel seem a bit excessive? I know 747-100/-200s that would routinely land with that amount of fuel normally from my Polar days.

that s true
here s the number for a 727 flight
1500 nm
34 000 lbs 03:30 flight time
for a 150 000 lbs ldw speed .79
10% contingency 3 255 lbs
altn 200 nm : 6 990 lbs 00:43
hold 30 min : 4 600 lbs 00:30
so 15 000 lbs at landing it s not bad at all ...
for 747 this is certainly 15 000 but Kilos not lbs ...

and for the saturday lesson lol ...
let s take a flight in 747 classic ...
a 3500 nm one ldw 260 t cruise speed .85
83.8 t
route reserve 3.2 t
altn 200 nm 7.1 t
final reserve or hold 5.0 t
taxi 1 t
so there is again around 15 but not 15000 lbs but really 15 000 kilos ... at destination not at alternate of course ...

definitly but in the same time we re operating aircraft (727) in other area than US and it means that we re overseas for FAA rules and im pretty sure 5000 lbs is the mini mini landing fuel not the operationnal one we should have lol ... pretty you re already airborne now ...yoni63 wrote:I have to back track on my earlier statement. The FAA requirement is 5000lbs total fuel on landing in the 722. I had said 3000 earlier.
I just landed with 4700 or so... I'm in process of trying to get airborne again before that guy from fisdo comes around!!!
