landning information

Here is where the coffee machine and Coke machine are kept. Please clean up after yourself and do not remove the magazines from this area. A good place to exchange thoughts with Operations personel and other pilots.

If you are using the full version of FSUIPC, there are options in there to smooth out wind changes. I would have to go through the actual screen to find the details but if you dig in the weather options, it is in there somewhere...
I am experiencing severe wind shifts. Can anything be done to improve this?
Since AS(2004.5) MR2 B130 and FSUIPC 3.307, all wind shift problems have been confirmed to be eliminated by use of FSUIPC wind smoothing. If you have wind smoothing problems, ensure that you do not have any 3rd-party app that may be writing conflicting wx information. Any further problems in this matter should be directed to Pete Dowson via his support forum (http://www.schiratti.com/dowson.html).

With Active Sky, you can fetch the weather for any airport during your flight, on the main screen. It gives you the current or archived METAR and also deciphers it to English. It will also give you the forecast (You'll need to learn how to read METAR, if you want to decipher the forecast), so you can see expected wind shifts. This is how I plan for which runway to use. I also have the forecast reliability set to 80%, so it's wrong about 20% of the time... just like real life. Makes for some interesting flying when the forecast is wrong, and you have to redo everything on the fly at the last minute.

Radar Contact reduces the go-arounds and conflicts with AI. I believe it tries to alter the speed of the AI planes. Go-arounds only happen occasionally, and I have tons of AI running at 100%. When it does happen, it's usually the AI that has to GA. I rarely have to GA for traffic on the runway. There's also a freeware program called AI Smooth, that will send AI to a hold, if it's going to conflict with your approach. No ATC with that one, though. It just gets the AI planes out of your way.

Radar Contact is the only game in town for a realistic ATC experience. The robotic voices turned me off at first, too. But there was an update or a fix, that sped the voices up so they sound more natural. It's a lot better than it was. After you use it a while, you won't even notice it, especially once you get used to flying real world procedures. Very cool when it tells you to hold 40 miles from ATL on the 330 radial, or you can fly an entire procedure like the Paradise Four at LAX right down to the runway.

RC will usually tell you to turn off at the next high speed. If you miss it, it will tell you to turn when able, I think.

So, basically, you can solve all your problems with Radar Contact and Active Sky. Both programs are well worth the money.

@Bryan:
RC will slow you down to 230 on downwind, and 210 on base. You shouldn't be flying that fast anyway. Captain Leadfoot a.k.a. Flyin' Bryan.
Well occasionally I do like to get FSDO (What's his name?) ticked off just so I can hear him bitch! LOL

Doug, maybe? Haven't used that part of it in a while, since I know when I screwed up, already. I ran bitch mode once, and my girlfriend heard it tearing me a new one. She thought that was just hilarious. :D

Ive had that problem also, with the speed and the flaps thing, before I used active sky, I would have been using the weather downloaded through sqauk box at the time, however. I think it is something to do with fs9 and sudden drastic changes in the wind.
Of course, this will never happen when you are sitting watching the screen, only happens when you leave for a few minutes, to get an in flight meal, cup of coffee, or let the dog out
Eddie I think we could make a Law to put with the ones below , any Suggestions ?

LAWS OF ULTIMATE REALITY

& Law of Mechanical Repair
After your hands become coated with grease, your nose
will
begin to itch and you'll have to pee.

& Law of Gravity
Any tool, when dropped, will roll to the least
accessible corner.

& Law of Probability
The probability of being watched is directly
proportional to the
stupidity of your act.

& Law of Random Numbers
If you dial a wrong number, you never get a busy
signal and
someone always answers.

& Law of the Alibi
If you tell the boss you were late for work because
you had a flat tire,
the very next morning you will have a flat tire.

& Variation Law
If you change lines (or traffic lanes), the one you
were in will
always move faster than the one you are in now (works
every time).

& Law of the Bath
When the body is fully immersed in water, the
telephone rings.

& Law of Close Encounters
The probability of meeting someone you know increases
dramatically when you are with someone you don't want
to be seen with.

& Law of the Result
When you try to prove to someone that a machine won't
work, it will.

& Law of Biomechanics
The severity of the itch is inversely proportional to
the reach.

& Law of the Theater
At any event, the people whose seats are furthest from
the aisle arrive last.

& The Starbucks Law
As soon as you sit down to a cup of hot coffee, your
boss will ask you to do something which will last
until the coffee is cold.

& Murphy's Law of Lockers
If there are only two people in a locker room, they
will have adjacent lockers.

& Law of Physical Surfaces
The chances of an open-faced jelly sandwich landing
face down on a floor covering are directly correlated
to the newness and cost of the carpet/rug.

& Law of Logical Argument
Anything is possible if you don't know what you are
talking about.

& Brown's Law of Physical Appearance
If the shoe fits, it's ugly.

& Oliver's Law of Public Speaking
A closed mouth gathers no feet.

& Wilson's Law of Commercial Marketing Strategy
As soon as you find a product that you really like,
they will stop making it.

& Doctors' Law
If you don't feel well, make an appointment to go to
the doctor, by the time you get there you'll feel
better. Don't make an appointment and you'll stay
sick.

Hi

Thanks for all your help guys, I´m now using RC and Ultimate Traffic and it´s really great up in the skies right now. But in order to get it a little bit better I need some answers on a few questions regarding the programs:

1: In RC, is there any way to get ATC guidance during taxi? After landing ATC Ground just told me to taxi to the ramp. No info on taxiways or specific parking stand.

2: In Ultimate Traffic, do I have to set the parking codes for each airline and aircraft manually or is there a package with parking codes availible for download? Seemed strange when I saw a UPS B767 standing docked to a gate at the passenger terminal in KDFW.

I think this is the two last things I want to know, then I´ll be outta the way with my stupid questions...:)

Kind regards

Patrik:

As for assigning parking spots, you need to look at Ultimate Traffic and read up on the accompanying instructions. The instructions for setting up parking spots are there, and tooooo long to sit here and type them. Besides, it would be better for you to read them and learn about the program.

As for ATC assigning your taxi route, I believe someone already answered that question. Check the previous posts in this thread. I believe you have to assign yourself a parking spot on in the RC program.

I don't believe it is proper decorum to use terms like pain in the a... in company correspondence. I believe it degrades us all.

Thank you

Peter, please put a last name with your signature, thanks. But in response to your post I will simply add this:

Probably 95 percent of the time there is rarely a foul word used on the forum. We for the most part try to keep it clean I think. But on the other hand, an occasional descriptor thrown in is reasonably harmless. One of the biggest things I know we try to promote here, and Justin said it himself was that we want the guys to be able to let their hair down a bit here. We don't want anyone worrying about their post getting "micro-managed" to death because of someone that doesn't share their idea. We encourage the pilots to discuss items and throw in not just thoughts, but their feelings on topics as well.

Having said that, you are probably going to see an occasional word here or there. If we as administrators run and lock, block, or delete the post, then guys are going to in time start feeling like they can't have a little fun on here, next thing you know the forum is totally dead, and we do not want that to happen.
