"The concept of the charters seems great. But right now we have just a very few pilots flying them all. In fact, I did read that one of them had flown the charter prior to even requesting it. Is there a way to open those flights up to a broader spectrum of the VA? I can't sit in front of my computer 24/7 waiting for the charters to become avialable and then hope I can actually get one of them. I know we have the open board flights. But even after a short period of time with the VA you quickly discover that those tend to be the same flights week after week. Maybe make the charters so that they will allow for multiple pilots to fly the same charter flights (like having the contracted charter weight greater than the capacity of one aircraft)? I like the charters because they give us the opportunity to fly different routes than what we normally see. I'd just like to fly them (yes, I have managed to get one in, in the several weeks that I have been a pilot here). Also, what does ""UNCLAIMED"" mean on the open board flights? And why list them if we can't select them? This is not a complaint on my part, just a desire to participate more fully..."

They are left on the schedule for completeness so that all can see what was available. "

"Thanks for the answer about ""UNCLAIMED"". I figured there had to be a reason, but didn't know what it was."

It can get confusing, I usually will go down the list of posts and write down the flights that have been taken, then go back to the list and see what is left. It seems to be the only way to do it especially if you are down to the last few flights. I saw you were wanting the one I took the night before, sorry about that. I know the flights are interesting for sure. Just try to get on there and check everyday if you can. You can post for a flight and you don't have to fly it right away, so if that helps you, you can reserve one then fly within a day or so I think it is. Regards.."

"I like the charter flights and have flown one or two but I am disappointed that there aren't that many flights to and from Africa. I believe Atlas has a weekly flight to and from Nairobi on behalf of Lufthansa. I would fly more of these if there were flights to such interesting destinations as Nairobi, Lome, Dakar, Lagos, etc. These would most likely be out of Europe or Dubai. Another suggestion: How about making the flights available in both directions? For example, if there is a charter flight from Nairobi to Frankfurt, how did the plane get to Nairobi in the first place? One pilot could bid for the inbound flight and another for the outbound flight. Or maybe London-Nairobi as one flight and Nairobi-Frankfurt as another. This applies to other continents as well, of course, like Dallas-Mexico City and Mexico City-New York. Just a thought. "

It all above my head, LOL, But not a bad thought at all, suggest you might send it to Bob to make sure he gets a gander at it. Take care!"

"Hi, I think it would be great to do some charters or regular flights on behalf of other airliners, such as Lufthansa, China Airlines, more and more. If you have seen the Atlas Air's Worldairroutes DVD, you'll see 3 flights done by an Atlas Air aircraft for China Airline. Stephane"

Saw some Polar Air or Atlas Air ships waiting to offload some equipment for the troops somewhere over the pond. It was on that jetphotos.net site that I was browsing. I have really got into enjoying the charters, but I don't want to be a hog, I know other guys would like to take some of them too."

"another thought, maybe a captain and a first officer can take the same route, with the first pilot that picks up the flight decides on departure day and time and posts that when it is picked up. that would increase the number of flights without adding more that may not get picked up... I have noticed that some dont get picked up till much later in the week or it is posted that there is one left... you really have to figure out which ones are gone.... i picked up 2 last week, i dont want to be a hog eigher, when dan posted, there was still one left maybe dan didnt see, i did not see it myself. <!--emo&:o--><!--endemo--> ed mosier 1287"
