Just curious

Here is where the coffee machine and Coke machine are kept. Please clean up after yourself and do not remove the magazines from this area. A good place to exchange thoughts with Operations personel and other pilots.

"Hey, I deleted my teamspeak program back when we nixed it, but since I am about up to speed on my last few add ons, I was thinking of reloading it and getting online with it again. Honestly, are many of us using it? I hope I don't get blasted, LOL, but just wanted to check before downloading yet another program. I do like the idea, don't get me wrong at all, just wondered if there are many guys on it."

"Unfortunately, it doesn't seem like anyone uses Teamspeak. I check on occasion but never see anyone out there. I think most pilots who have tried log onto the server and when no one else shows up, they log off. I am not very good at staying logged on either. I have been thinking about planning some kind of event for weekend flights and encouraging pilots to connect but I haven't gotten around to it. Maybe in Feb. Anyway, I paid for the server for a year since they are not very expensive. Lee "

"Yeah, I can see how the time zones would be a problem. I do know that most of my flights are late night or even early morning real time, but still wondered if anyone was getting on it. Seems like a neat thing to waste huh?"

We could maybe try to plan a get together so we could all talk and get to know each other.

"......formation flying huh? I would love to do that. Last weekend at the Denver VATSIM event, the skies were so crowded I was just about flying in formation the entire flight from LA. It was fun to chat with the other pilots although we used text. Not all flights have to be VA flights. I spend about half my time just doing short practice flights on VATSIM. We could do these kind of flights on occasion with formation or close flying. I recommend if anyone is going to fly on VATSIM to let others know when and maybe a formation flight will develop. I will keep this in mind when I fly in the future. Great idea! Lee "

"Bryan, on line flying is not that difficult, and really adds a new dimension to your flights, go to vatsim.net, and read up on how to... there is a pilot resourse center, and forums. Just download and install squwakbox3. They have a couple of tutorials to get you started. I recomend first few times start with a small plane and do a couple of vfrs, then ifrs, before using the rfp. What I do is sometimes go to a busy airport , like lax atl or jfk, and sit on the tarmac for a while listening in, then when you feel comfortable, away you go. <!--emo&:D--><!--endemo--> Ed mosier 1287"

We don't have to be flying on Vatsim to start. We could begin with multiplayers in FS9!

"Correct! Vatsim is not a requirement to do some formation flying. In fact, Vatsim would limit flexibility if someone wants to really do some formation flying.... <!--emo&:D--><!--endemo-->"

"That is good thought to ponder on, I have never tried multiplayer in FS 9 either, but sounds fun! I am tempted with the vatsim thing as well."

I would say that Vatsim (and the others) are more for strict real life operations but multiplayers would be more towards the social end.

Let's get serious about this as I was also thinking about getting a get together going. Start throwing in your thoughts on when we could do this and we will get the word out. Sounds like so far it would be on a weekend. I am personally available weekend nights (GMT-6). Does anyone have an abnormally fast connection to act as a multiplayer server (assuming we don't use Vatsim/IVAO in order to focus on the social aspect)? Otherwise we can probably find one on the internet through one of the several facilities for multiplayer gaming. Plan on flying your scheduled flight or Atlas charter!! Justin
