I have the charts, but it doesnt make much sense to me. I assume eaone is vor intersection, it has lat-long corodinates, so i must have to input them into the ins, then on to the next waypoint in the flight plan, am i correct in this, After an hour or so, I gave up and went to bed,, Ill try again tonight... ed mosier 1287 "

I assume the controller wants you to leave the Atlanta area via the EAONE fix at 10,000 feet (unless instructed otherwise) and then proceed from there. "

"Sids and Stars? Well, I have not found a place that really explains them on the net. I do know that unless you have a really complex one, they are not very hard at all, they just look intimidating. I will look around on the net for you and see if I can find anything to help because trying to tell you on here would be really hard. Remember, there will usually be something accompanying the map portion of the sid or star that is like a narrative. That part explains everything that the particular approach or departure plate wants you to do. Ok, went and found a site I think you might benefit from on this subject.. Go to this site, once there, look down just a little not far on the page you will see some selections on lessons. Anyhow, click on the SIDS or STARS and you will get a window that gives a wealth of info and basically takes you through the whole process. Let me know how it helps you. I hope it helps you somehow, I know those things look intimidating, but usually you are only really interested in one leg of the approach chart anyway and it shows several ways inbound, so don't let that get you flustered. Just pick your point of entry into the STAR and fly it like it was the only one that existed. Just keep your altitude and speed restrictions and you'll be fine."

http://ztlartcc.org/' target='_blank'>Atlanta FIR</a> webpage. There you will find the specific way that they expect you to depart ATL on the ATL5 departure. In my experience with departures named after the departing airport (i.e. LAXX 5, Atlanta 5, Kennedy 9, O'Hare 1, etc.) are usually vectored anyway and are very easy to follow. After takeoff, the tower will just give you vectors to intercept the first fix. In the case of the Atlanta 5 departure, after takeoff, accelerate to 250 kts and climb to 10,000 ft as soon as practical, unless the controller gives you different instructions."

I fly out of ATL a lot and use the ATL5 departure and the EAONE intersection all the time for PO602. The controllers will vector you to intercept the 065* radial outbound from the ATL VOR. Fly that radial until 35 DME and you will be at EAONE. Usually the next waypoint in my flightplan is SPA VOR, which I use as my first waypoint in the INS. So I navigate to SPA the old-fashioned way before switching on the INS. When we get the -400F in the fleet we will be able to use some of the newer DP's such as DAWGS and DOOLY, without having to input all the Lat/Lon's by hand. Hope this sheds a little light on this Departure:)"

"<!--emo&:D-->[img]style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif[/img]<!--endemo--> Thanx for the tips guys, The biggest problem I have with rfp and globe cargo is it is getting so addictive, i mean, when I first joined I was just trying to log lots of hours, now starting to get up to speed on vatsim, using the ins, etc etc, one really does need to load up the plane about 1 hour before departure, and trying to do everything by the book and figure it all out on the fly , so to speak. With about 30 minutes from gate departure to cruise altuitude, then about 1 hour for tod to the gate, plus whatever time it takes at cruise, you can have lots of time on one flight alone, and when flight keeper crashes or fs crashes or just an old fashioned power failure it can be very annoying... Anyway, im going to attempt po602, katl to egpk tonight for a third time, wish me luck... ed mosier 1287 ps, what does it mean, when you start to refer to airports by their code...."
