"Hi Fellas, Let's get this fly-in organized but there are a few options to figure out. I'm thinking towards the end of February for the fly-in. Now, only those who are interested in participating please respond below with a simple list of options you would like. Options 1. Vatsim, IVAO, or no ATC 2. TeamSpeak or no voice comm 3. All fly the same route (staggered departures) or fly bid/open board polar flights I plan on providing a several hour window for departures to accomodate the span of time-zones that our organization covers. Justin"

Same route with Staggered departures would be neat too, just in case we don't have enough open board flights to do it. But also it would be neat looking up and seeing someone way up ahead of you . LOL"

"It sounds great! - no ATC - Teamspeak - same route, same load (to compare fuel consumption and flight time) - take off time within 2 or 3 hours - preferably on a week-end because of time zones - something like an Atlantic crossing W to E for a change... cheers, Luc "

"Justin, I vote for VATSIM, Teamspeak and all arrive at a common destination. How about everyone depart from the airport of their choice? Only problem in that is the timing... someone on an 8hr flight would have a harder time estimating Arrival then someone doing a one or two hr flight."

"My opinion: 1. ATC optional (not usually great for transatlantic anyway). 2. Teamspeak yes 3. Same route and same everything. I don't have a preference on flights. I am open to non-polar/Atlas routes for shorter flights. Maybe the KORD/KMIA flight is a good option. I always like a bit of friendly competition so maybe we could have ""virtual"" prizes for closest to x amount of fuel when the brakes are set, touchdown rate, time estimation, highest score with FSFK, etc. Keep departures in 2-3 hour window. I am in Europe for the next couple of weeks so please don't schedule anything until the 18th. Lee "

I say: - No ATC - With Teamspeak - Same route - Departure at the same airport at the same time Maybe we could keep it short since it's the first flight.

"<!--emo&:D--><!--endemo--> I agree with Louis, lets keep the first one simple, short flight maybe 2-3 hours or so, and maybe on a multiplayer session if possible ed mosier 1287"

"Good replies guys. Lee, it will be after the 18th of Feb. I will start looking at specific dates/times today and hopefully post with a tentative date/time late tonight. This is what I see so far: 1. Shorter flight. I'm looking at either KORD/KMIA as suggested, HEL/AMS, or PVG/ICN. All flights will depart and arrive at the same destination. 2. No ATC so we can do a multiplayer session (so we all see each other). 3. Definately TeamSpeak. 4. 2-3 hr window for departures depending on which flight we take. All of these details are still up for debate so if you have comments keep them coming. Good news, though these ""formation"" flights are highly unrealistic, management has given us the approval to temporarily sacrific realism for ""community"". You will be getting flight time credit for this flight. Justin"

"Looks like everything is coming together. One potential challenge is the current TeamSpeak account is limited to 10 simultaneous logins. I think we should get a count for the number of participants. If the number is greater than 10, I will bump up the connections. Also, we should maybe identify gate assignments at the departure airport. This will sacrifice some realism if we depart from a passenger terminal but it will be easier to set up. I would love to see 20 -200s parked at the terminal. I am not sure how else to easily start at different locations. Of course, I don't think everyone would need to connect or depart at the same time but I think the closer we are to the same time, the more interesting it will be. Can a quick poll be set up? If not, just reply to this message if you are a definite go so I can get a count. Thanks! This should be fun. Lee "

"You make some good points Lee. I was already thinking about the parking situation and how does it sound if I take one of AI Afcad's AFCAD file and add our parking for the departure and destination? Gates will be assigned along with the charter details which will be issued exactly like Atlas charters, but will be available only to participants of the fly-in. Would it work for you guys to assign departure times to a charter and each of us bid on which charter we want just like you select an Atlas charter? (if we run out of times that work for someone, we can adjust the departure time but I'd like to do that only as a last resort) As far as I know, once a topic is started you can't add a poll. At least I don't see any controls to do that on my screen. Let's just post on here if you definately planning on participating in the fly-in barring any last minute issues that would prevent you from participating. Also, please include your vote for which route to fly from those I listed above. Justin"

Works for me. I prefer the ORD-MIA route but I am flexible. The TS upgrade is not expensive so that is not a problem. Thanks Justin! Lee
