"Hi Everyone, I've been trying to do a flight and keep coming up with several problems. One in particular is a problem with CIVA reporting error code 04-45 which says I entered the present position incorrectly (but I did). The error always comes up when the alignment reaches level 6 and on all three units. I tried installing CIVA again (though I didn't uninstall it first) which didn't work. Maybe I should try uninstalling then reinstall. Next, my FFRATS decided to quit working properly in EPR mode. My procedures have not changed from the time it worked to when it quit working. With EPR mode, it's either full throttle or...full throttle, there is no in between. It ignores the EPRL. TOD is set with derate II minus 0.6 to give me an EPRL of 1.36. EPR mode takes the throttle to 1.50+. It started happening when I got a new computer and had to load RFP onto it. I have a jungle of updates/patches because I got RFPv2 the day it came out. Am I installing the patches/updates in the wrong order? I just tried reinstalling it a couple days ago and that didn't fix it. I don't know the proper order to install the updates/fixes so that's highly suspect for my problem. Last but not least, my radio stack. I have the Reality XP wx radar and use Lee's TCAS system. I also use Jose's ""The Package"" to integrate those two items into the radio stack. After this last install and following the directions, the control for the TCAS is not on my radio stack but the EVSI is on my main panel. Also, I want the RFP pushback gauge moved to the right side of the stack from the left side where the wx radar now is. What are the coordinates I need to put in the panel.cfg to do that? Any help on any of these issues is greatly appreciated. "wow, if the guy that has the most hours is having problems,how can I help... maybe you should give me your new computer <!--emo&:D-->[img]style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif[/img]<!--endemo--> Just kidding Justin, but here are some thoughts, when i get a new computer I will install stuff in the order i got it. fs9, fs9.1, rfpv2, rfp update, civns but not set it up yet,finally fsupic latest version. then other planes and scenery as i need them, . I would see how that worked before adding things like radar contact, fdc, squaukbox, etc. Kind of a one at a time approch . Maybe someone can email you their config file to compare, I dont know how to email that myself. Have you installed Ralphs new panels yet, maybe something there....myself i am having problems keeping the engines running on the new version... ed mosier 1287 "

"When the CIVA error indication comes up, check all three waypoint ""zero"" locations, and see if any are set to 00.00.0N 000.00.0W. I had that happen twice. Once I made a typo on 1 number on 1 INS, and the other, I moved the A/C via pushback, and re-started the alignment over. Don't turn them off, just back to standby, than back to align. Hope that helps. As for the FFRATS -2 things: 1) do you have more than 1 hardware throttle? IE: CH SIM YOKE (with the 3 throttle levers) and the CH 6 axis throttle, or a combination of 2 or more joysticks? If 2 devices share a setting like throttle, then both devices send different position data to FS, confusing the fratts. 2) FS has 2 sets of throttle settings. Under controls joystick axis assignments, look for the 4 independent throttles, AND another one just called throttle, presumably used for single engine A/C. Make sure either the single is not set to anything or the 4 are not set to anything. Use one or the other. I use the 4, as I have the CH 6-way. Sorry I can't help with the radio stack, Mine is fully custom and its settings wouldn't be of much help. -Happy (con) Trails"

Usually if I do something out of order though RFP installation will give me an error so that's about as much guidance I have when installing RFP <!--emo&;)-->[img]style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif[/img]<!--endemo--> Thanks Michel for the snippet of your panel.cfg. That got the TCAS and pushback gauge working. I also deleted and reinstalled CIVA which fixed that problem. Now I'm just left with the EPR problem but at least I can make a flight without engaging EPR. LeFick, thanks for the tip and I tried that, including unplugging the CH Throttle Quad with no change in symptoms. I did a little more testing and here's a better description of the problem... on the TRC, I set TOD, push the EPR button and decrease the EPRL by .06 to get 1.36 (for this example, no change in symptoms if I don't adjust the EPRL). I turn A/T on and set the EPRL bugs, left to right. when I get to engine 4 and set the EPRL bug, engines 1-3 surge, engine 1 surging the highest to about 1.13. I push the throttles up to 1.20 where FFRATS takes over. The engines reach their highest EPR at 1.53, 1.48, 1.48, 149 respectively. Engine 2 throttle lever twitches from about 3/4 throttle to about full throttle at the rate of 1 twitch per second or so. I've seen a similar reaction due to joystick throttle settings but remember that I have tested with no joystick throttle hooked up with the same result. After EPR reaches it's peak, it slowly starts to decrease until it passes back through the EPRL to about 1.33 then stabilizes at about 1.35 but by this time I'm already a couple thousand feet above the ground. I appreciate everyones help on this. At least now I can get the plane in the air but I still have to manually set the thrust on takeoff. I should also mention that SPD mode works perfect as does Mach hold which works as it's supposed to. It's only in EPR mode that the A/T has a mind of its own. Justin"

The higher the temperature, the higher the ""base"" EPR. "Interesting development: I just purchased and installed the RFP VIP Club and though I still get a power surge when setting the EPRL bugs, EPR mode itself now works as advertised. It still does not work in the non-VIP club panel though. Justin"

"Hey Justin, If everything worked great on your old 'puter, do you have the means to image your old hard drive and transfer it to your new one? Use a program such as Ghost, image it to an external hardrive and then copy it back to your new one. I know it's a pretty drastic way to get RFP running again but if all else fails it may be worth it. Just a suggestion if you can't seem to work out the problems you're having. Mark"

I continue trying all of your suggestions with no luck. I think it's just a gauge issue on my machine. Maybe I should try downloading a fresh install file incase my saved install file got messed up. At least I'm able to fly again, I'm currently a couple hours into ORD/AMS. Like I mentioned earlier, RFPv3 EPR mode works like my RFPv2 used to so I don't think it's my machine but the RFP software on my machine. Justin"
