"I hope its okay, but I just need to vent. I was on an Atlas flight from Dubai to Singapore. I took off in my PMDG 744F wearing Emerates Sky Cargo colors and flew in real time and real world weather. I flew manually up to FL110 and the flight progressed according to plan. After switching to LNAV/VNAV, I tended the flight meticulously, step climbing and switching tanks at the appropriate times. I recall enjoying the view as I crossed the Indian cost north of Mumbai (very green;must be jungle down there) and continued on across the continent and out over the Indian Ocean. The cloud coverage gradually increased and I saw some thunderstorms below, but I was well out of harms way at FL370. And then, about two hours short of my destination (4.5 hours into the flight), I retuned from a short meal break to see a black screen and the dreaded message, ""Microsoft Flihgt Simulator has encouneted a problem and must shut down."" Argh. Fortunately this does not happen very often, and it has never happend to me this far into a flight. But oh what a pain! Oh well, I guess I will wait a day or two and try again. Anyway, thanks for listining. Andrew"

"I know what you are talking about, Andrew! Fortunately, I've never had a crash that far into a flight, but a few times I've had a problem, where FS starts to load bitmaps (or something) from the hard drive when I'm on short final and the frame rate goes to 0.5 or so (TERRIBLE stuttering and jumping around). When this happens, I usually pause the simulator and wait it out, but a time or two this has caused me to crash after an 8 to 10 hour flight. And, man, have I been mad when that happened! So my sympathies go to you, fellow pilot. I hope it goes better when you try it again! Happy flying, Petri"

"Ummmm....yup, I HATE it when that happens. <!--emo&--><!--endemo--> Had a few myself flying from Narita to LAX. FS would crash as soon as I crossed the California coastline, meaining I was about 30 minutes from touchdown after crossing the pond on 9+ hours of flight time."
