Globe Cargo Dispatch Release/FP Generator Features

Here is where the coffee machine and Coke machine are kept. Please clean up after yourself and do not remove the magazines from this area. A good place to exchange thoughts with Operations personel and other pilots.

Globe Cargo Dispatch Release/FP Generator Features

Post by nwadc10 »

"The GC Dispatch Release/Flight Planner overhaul is just getting started. We have compiled a list of new features and we would like to get your comments on the features in the list below as well as other features you feel we should include. Mike H. did an excellent job at getting us started with our own flight planner and now we will make huge enhancements to it. This is a product exclusive to current Globe Cargo pilots. New features planned: - Compensation for winds aloft. - Accurate fuel calculation that you can rely on for both the 742 and 744. - Use of CoRoutes if applicable. - Manual route entry and building of FP. - Departure runway thrust settings (gives data for all rwys at departure airport and for dry and contaminated runway surfaces). - Real flight plan formatting. - Automatically prefile the flight plan with Vatsim. - Assigned Captain and First Officer printed on dispatch release portion. - Assigned aircraft and inoperative MEL items. - Ability to use it only as a route generator. - Updated Airac file. - DP/STARs included in route generation. These features are in addition to or enhancements of existing parts of the generator. The product will be very easy to use and if you are planning a flight to which you have been assigned (scheduled bid flight or selected atlas charter) the process will be almost automatic with just the entry of the flight number, date, and departure airport. This project is expected to take some time but if it is ready before we move to the new website, it will be released on the old site at the current location. These features are subject to change as development progresses but it's what's planned to be included. If you have any comments or suggestions please post. Justin[/list]"

"Excellent! 1 suggestion: show alternates along the route, in case of failures requiring urgent landing. One can easily enter these alternates in the FMS of the 400 using the fix page. For derated take offs and thrust calculations I am using a free programme called TOPCAT, it is very good. cheers Luc"

Hi Luc, Good suggestion, we'll look into it. There will certainly be an alternate for the destination on the flight plan. You won't need TOPCAT anymore once the new version of the generator is complete ;) Of course we are making the generator to plan for the 744 and 742 fleets only (and 748 when it arrives in several years). "When Nathan resigned from administration he also had to give up working on this project. This is an advertisement to anyone who is interested in continuing this project being developed in PHP. This opportunity is not limited to current Globe Cargo members. This flight planner, if designed to these specs, will be very robust and functional and we will be sure to design it so that you want to use it before every flight ;) Please send me an email regarding your interest or questions about this project. ceo@globecargo.org Justin"

That's just the tip of the iceberg. If we find someone proficient enough at PHP the system will be much more detailed than that...to include engine settings (Max, derates) for each runway at your departure airport just to give an example. Mike, this is a web-based planner so the airac is stored and referenced on the website. Justin"
