"Well I have it but to be honest I am not sure if something is not right with mine or not. I am preparing for a flight GTI107 (Charter Calgary to Miami) and the have tried twice now to load the Cargo bays with freight and end up with an empty bays. Now I will say the plane does sink in when i hit send to FSX like weight was added but no cargo in the holds. I restart the sim like we do in FS9 and still an empty bays when I open up the nose and side doors. My other problem is I can not load anymore freight above 105000 lbs or so, and when i click on the main deck to remove cargo it affects my passenger load, not cargo. Anyone else having this problem. I am not sure where the problem is"

"Mike, Just seen this post quickly so took a look and YES! I see what you mean!
I changed the configuration to 747-400F Cargo and by selecting full cargo you get 105690lbs CARGO and 9360lbs PAX, Like you said, if you change a bay on the Main Cargo Deck to empty, it takes the weight off of the PAX weight area
Very Strange!"

"Well finished my maiden flight with the new girl and she flies wonderfully. I have a few things to still work out including my cargo loading problems. I am glad I am not the only one with that one. One thing though I do not like was the shine on the Atlas textures. I know cargo birds, and not many actually shine. So I am going to have to figure where that setting is to turn that off. The other is with assigning keys so I can reset my Joystick to function better especially with regard to TOGA and auto throttle. It appears to be different for this one. Other than that I really like and in time will love flying it."

"One other thing on the payload weights, after loading the plane I checked the load of the aircraft by only going to the payload and fuel menu item. It registered a payload of 142000 lbs there instead of 105000. I am reporting this to PMDG and see what they say."

"Mike, I have been on the PMDG Forums with this issue and it appears that some else, Andrew, has already found this problem too... I mentioned along with his post, that you and I are having the same problems as he is and the tech guy replied that he is going on holiday for a week and will look into it when he gets back
Heres the link to check it out: (im ross744 btw

Next time also compare that number with the gross weight reported on the FMC. HAs anyone checked to see if they have the same problem with the pax version? I'm sure it will get straightened out soon. There is always something like this with new releases.

Nope MJSchmitt
OT: Buying -400X gets you an update to the FS2004 version?

"OK, OT here but did I understand this right? If I buy -400X, it comes with an update for the 2004 version? Why would I buy a
new version and want an update to my
old version included? Does that sound right to anyone, because I'm confused.

The thing I don't like is you can't even receive the update unless you have FSX installed according to Ross.

"Unfortunately thats correct. The 400x does include an update to FS9 and that is the only way i have heard of getting it. They call it an added bonus for those who upgrade, but if I am switching to FSX why concern me with FS9. Makes no sense... but then many things in business and flight simming make no sense."

"For what its worth, I have verified that the loading problem only affects the Cargo version. The PAX birds work fine. And Yes, I am AJ over at the PMDG forum."

I think I'll stay with FS9. I've got RFP and PMDG -400/f installed and working fine. It just doesn't concern me enough right now to switch.

One quick discovery I found on the PMDG 747-400X (and I hope someone can confim this for me and that it isnt just me...) is that there are no actual flaps??? There appears to be slats and the arm thingys that hold the flaps (not sure what they are called lol) but no flaps themselves! This can be seen in both Spot and PAX Wing Views... Ross S

"No worries, I sorted this problem out now... had to enable the Advanced Animations option in FSX. (As posted on the PMDG OPS)"
