No Aircraft for me to fly

Hi All,
I went to fly the second leg of my open board flight but when I went to check the logbook of the aircraft I was meant to use (N416MC) I noticed it was not at KATL where I left it but at RJBB, there are no other B744F's at KATL so what do I do now? Do I just fly the flight and not specify a tail number in GCP?

Being that flights aren't required to be flown at the exact time the real flight is operated it would be difficult to impossible to have all the tail numbers in the proper location for every flight. With that being said, the display of current location of the aircraft is "just for fun" and plays a larger role in maintenance where we need to get a ship to a particular station by a certain date due to an MEL.

We are testing the automatic update of aircraft location now. Before, this feature wasn't "plugged in".

Thanks Justin, I will carry on with my flight then using assigned aircraft.

I added an automated update of aircraft location after you submit a PIREP. Just remember that since we don't actually fly all the flights on the schedule, airplanes we be "stuck" at one location when you need it for your flight. Nothing we can do about that but at least you now can see where the plane was flown to last. Assuming of course the pilot filed with the correct tail number.

This should also help Allan with the mx... Please let me know if there are any issues with this new feature...

Firstly, as a new member, I'm saying 'hiya' to all of yous :) Glad to be here! Secondly, I need to clarify the aircraft location issue. I've booked a flight from KJFK and my assigned bird is N526MC which is currently located at KBGR. The question is if I should still go for the N526MC or should I rather fly one of the planes currently located at my departure airport? The other thing I'm wondering is whether I could fly 744 instead of 742. I must confess that although 742 RFP was my very first 'toy' when I started my FS experience (I've still got the box version of RFP :D ) I might struggle now to operate it the right way as I haven't flown it for ages. I know, shame on me
Ta much in advance for your help ;)

Welcome! You should fly the aircraft assigned with your bid form. Its easier that way, as stated before, locations are pretty much for maintenance/engineering use only.

Had the same trouble myself when i jumped back into the 742,the 744 is a beauty to fly , but it makes you lazy especially where Nav is concerned, my two, pennerth ? do a couple of Practice Flights to bring yourself back upto speed with the 742 and find out how much you,ve missed about flying a real "classic"
