Bitumus runways... smooth landings that crash

Has anyone else run into this? :?

I just landed at LOWW on rwy 29, which is made of "Bitumus", rather than concrete.. and it over stressed the a/c resulting in a "crash", though the landing was -94fpm at 155kts .. smooth in my book.

Does anyone know of a fix for this? :) (beyong turning "detect crashes and damage" off? )

This sort of thing can be imbarracing when it happens on VATSIM

There is an altered sim.dll file available if you google. But, it's not always stable, resulting in FS9 crashing. Your best bet, unfortunately, is to turn off crash detection.

If you get the afcad program you can change the runway to concrete then save it back to FS,everything will be good then

But Mike, he will have to spend all those virtual dollars for that concrete!

This issue has been discussed here before, do a search to find it (not because we are too lazy to answer an already answered question but because I don't remember the details ;) ). In that other discussion I think there's a list of airports that have the bituminous runway if I remember correctly. As Mike stated, the best way to fix it is to use AFCAD to open the airport and change the runway surface. I think to make the rwy looks the same, select it as asphalt...but i could be wrong.

Thanks for the AFCAD suggestion. All fixed, ..and now I have a new toy mess with things a bit :P

BTW, I did do a search on "Bitumus" without any results. :D
