I happened to be flying PHNL-YMML last night as QF7550 and I noticed the distance seemed to be all messed up. Looking at my PIREP it has the distance listed as 1193nm. The actual distance is around 4800nm.

If your using GCP, I think this was an old glitch, might want to post what software you were using.

I was using GCP with FSACARS running as a backup.

Did you happen to stop GCP and restart later by loading the flight back into GCP? If so, the problem is that the airports.dat file isn't found and therefore uses the coordinates 0W/E and 0 N/S as it's "airport location" and will give wrong distances from departure/to destination.

However, reading again it looks like the distance flown as reported in the PIREP that seems to be off. That is calculated a completely different way which should be fool proof. It's simple, it records the coordinates at block out then again at block in and uses only those two coordinates in the distance calculation. It doesn't rely on any outside files like the example above. At one of those two points, the coordinates must be off. Did you use sim rate at all?

Quite possibly, I haven't quite figured out all the inner workings of GCP. We'll chalk this one up to operator error!
