As I am sure you have noticed by now, we have a new version of the forum up and running! I invite you to check out the many new features such as attachments, saving drafts before posting, much more advanced user control panel and lots of nice tools to help us making sure everything is running smoothly behind the scenes. All old posts and users should have migrated across.
Please post here if you find that something is not working properly or if you want to see something added!

First , - I agree, great job Tomas.
Perhaps a bit picky but, would it be possible to make the red indication for the "new" posts a bit brighter red, it is hard to see when you get into the actual forum, and look at the posts that have new entries.
The indicators on the titles pages are fine, it is just when on the actual posts page that they are hard to see....I refer to the circles with the little lines in them on the posts pages.
Hope this is explained clearly?
John.

Would it be possible to have manual post marking as an option? For those of us pressed for time and frequently interrupted, it sure would make it easier to read and follow the forum. Nothing sucks like having to abandon a forum session, and everything gets marked as read, even if you haven't finished reading.

To my best knowledge, this is not possible. You can look through the Control Panel yourself to see if the option is available to you. I didn't see it... There might be a forum add-on that will allow manual post marking but I am trying to keep those to a minimum since it makes patching and upgrading so much harder with too many add-ons.
Messing with the core phpBB code is generally pretty hard and add-ons only give you so much functionality before you start running into trouble with upgrades. If you wish, you can check the phpBB forums to see if there is something available that would do what you want and if not, post a feature request.

What you could do which is probably just as good is to bookmark the topic. If you look at the lower left corner of the page, all the way at the bottom on the light blue line, click Bookmark Topic. You can access your bookmarks by going to the User Control Panel which is selected just under the forum logo at the top of the page then select Manage Bookmarks. There it will list all the topics you have bookmarked.
To remove topics from your bookmark list, either remove it from the Manage Bookmarks page or at the bottom left corner when reading one of your bookmarked topics. The selection is in the same location as setting the topic as a bookmark except that it will now say Remove from bookmarks.

I second the fist motion
The red is really hard to see, and I am 100%
NOT colorblind.

I made the read somewhat brighter. Other than totally changing colour or adding some kind of indicator that the topic has a new posting, I am not sure what to do with it. I am not a graphic artist so if someone has ideas on how to make it more obvious or has an icon that I can use, please send me a link.

I think it looks much better Tomas. The new posts are much easier to pick out now and this change should be all that's needed in my opinion. THanks
