i have recently downloaded RFP as an alternative to flying the PMDG and was wondering how you went about obtain the manuals for this add-onc as the link that i have for the manuals seems to be dead 404...

I am trying to get a handle on this aircraft. I tried flying a flight, but stalled out, as I didn't step climb properly. I read in one of the tutorials, that the person who wrote the tutorial had some charts showing speeds for certain flight levels at certain weights. I could not find any chart like this in the manuals supplied, even the link shown above. Does anyone have charts like this for the RFP, and how to calculate when and how to step climb? I really like this aircraft and want to learn how to fly it properly. In my first flight, I took off OK, and climbed OK for awhile, but then the plane started slowing down and diving on me when in AP and AT , with IAS climb mode enabled. No idea why, unless it was too heavy for the level I was at. It occurred at about FL300.

thanks for your reply ,i have received the manuals from mike now anyway..

i did spot that link after i spoke to mike...

i thot finding the manuals was going to be the hard part but thats only the beginning have managed to get APU going ,engines going and a very basic understanding of the autopilot logic works (abit different from the PMDG 747-400)at the moment so a steep learning curve ahead,,but should be worth it in the end

your doing better than me then i have only been to 6000ft flying manually and using atuopilot but not INS,

what did you load your aircraft with?
as there is a lot of documentation about how to load and fuel this aircraft using the proper loaders and not the ones in FS9 itself

Yeah, I used all of the supplied tools for proper loading and configuration, and used the Auto Fuel loading feature. All of that works well. Just the climb was a problem.

yeh i have a lot performance files for the RFP742 that i got being a member of this other VA performance,weights max climb table,initial cruise weights an a lot off other stuff,which i will pass on to you as soon as i get permission from the other VA that i can.

There has been a lot of cotroversy about leaked documents there which i can understand because people spend a lot of time and effort to produce or just find these documents on the net which i know can be a painstaking slow process most of the time..anyway i have pm`d the owner of these documents at my other VA and hopefully will get permission to pass these on,as it is for everyones enjoyment i cant see why they would refuse but we will see

For this you get all the liveries - (most of which you never use, but they can be removed and stored somewhere else), - all the manuals, videos, loaders for cargo and combi, fuel planner, take-off calculator, an introductory tutorial flight and more.

It does take some getting used to but is well worth the effort.

Install this into the FS9 folder and the options to install this into the panels are already in the RFP Panels\VMAX Tape and Analog panel.cfg files.

that looks very tempting at least you would know that you have all the manuals and would save you printing out all 320 pages,and some people like to have the boxed version anyway over the download ver,
i have also installed the CIVA INS but have only got as far as basically telling it where its own position is,at the moment and that took me that long i gave up for the night,at the rate i was going departure was going to be early next year sometime...

and greg i am still waiting for word about passing on that documents.i would gladly send them now but i would be risking being deleted from the roster so better to wait

OK, thanks, Terry. I have all of the regular manuals that came with the RFP, and all of their tools, and the tutorial flight. But those performance charts would be great. It would help me to figure out when I need to step climb, etc.

Go to Flightsim.com or Avsim site, do a search under Matt Zagoren in the fs9 files and you should come up with a link to download a ton of aircraft performance files, including the 747-100/200/SP. Those are the tables I used and they never let me down. Otherwise, I do have the pdf files that I could send to you asan attachment if you PM me.
