From what has been said thus far about Flight by M$, it is looking to be released as nothing short of a complete joke.

From the article:

• The base is still a globe, it’s just that there is not enough geography yet. But they would rather launch now and not have everything than wait and let the product age.
• At launch, not everyone will have the opportunity to fly where they are. The team has decided to not try and make the whole world this time, but at periodical times.
• The game will feature its own marketplace, with content regulated by Microsoft. There will be no software development kit and hence no user created content. “…and those willing to pay small fees for new aircraft, geography, mission packs etc.”

Do they really think this is going to convince faithful FS users to essentially throw away all the hundred + dollars that we have all spent on FS9 or FSX, as well as not allow user-created content - nor freeware or payware (outside of M$) - yet they say the game is directed towards the “faithful” Flight Simmers? I think M$ is really flat-out shooting themselves in the feet at this point. The faithful FS users are a VERY tight-knit community and word will spread extremely fast of how M$ is screwing the community through no user content and incorporating a M$ App Store in its' place, as well as alienating the FS developers and all the users that are extremely devoted to those 3rd party companies (VATSIM, PMDG, LVLD, ORBx, FlyTampa, etc etc...).

Also, read http://www.orbxsystems.com/forum/topic/ ... ms-flight/.

Not sounding to promising to us commercial heavy aircraft types that like to fly all over the world, on-line with Vatsim now is it?

They went to great lengths to ensure existing enthusiasts wouldn't be left in the cold. While it appears that the aircraft they do include will be more detailed than FS default planes it does seem that many things are left out. But at the same time many things are being improved. I was excited to see what Flight had to offer because I understood it that they were keeping the hardcore part but expanding the dumbed-down parts to make it more accessible to the masses. Now I think this isn't going to be for us. Since it will be free for the islands I will certain downloaded it and I'm sure enjoy it for what it is.

....self proclaimed expert... Well Mike, you may trust him, he did help me a long time ago with my quad and it never failed since! He even did it for free then but, of course, being an expert he may charge you now. Watch out

Cheers

Thank,s Justin ,I,ve managed it, I do it all through the FSUIPC, I found a Treatise by someone called "Sim Samurai" which went through it Chapter and Verse, but I couldn,t get No 3 correct no matter what I tried ,so I found this for the Saitek Throttle Quadrant and it works a treat "see below", the other problem I had was with the Trim, which I assigned to the Mixture Axis on the Yoke, but that kept cancelling the Autopilot in flight, vibration I think, anyway i re-assigned it back to 9 & 10 so thats ok. famous last words ! :D

Hi Gavin

This is how I have reverse idle set up with my saitek throttle quadrant through FSUIPC:

Under the 'Buttons and Switches' tab, activate the "button" on any one of the levers you have assigned for throttle thrust (for example, the Engine Number 1 lever which is the left-hand one my case) by pushing the lever all the way down. You will see FSUIPC register it as a button press.

In the same 'Buttons and Switches' tab of FSUIPC, click "Select for FS Control". Then, from the drop-down box, select the control assignment you want. If you want ALL the reversers to engage, choose "Throttle Set". If it's for a single engine, like Engine Number 1, select "Throttle 1 Set" (or "Throttle 2 Set" for Engine #2 and so on). THEN, set the parameter to -16383 (note minus/negative sign before the number). That parameter represents the absolute IDLE position in FSUIPC's axis assignment/calibration. Then add Throttle1 Cut to the "Control sent when button released" and again add the parameter -16383. Do the same for all throttles. DO NOT tick the control to repeat while held tick box

Now just pull the throttle lever(s) down to the bottom and reversers will activate. To deactivate, just pull them back to the throttle's actual idle detente.

Works fine for me.

Hi All,
you might want to read what Robert R, of PMDG just wrote about flight, look in the PMDG forums, General.
Looks like it will be for gamers, I won't be wasting my time on it.
But, you might want to take a look at the Lockheed-Martin, sim.[Not aimed at the gamers] It will use all the FSX add-ons. At $500 dollars, I'll be waiting for awhile.
I do know one person that bought it, and of course when you spend that much,, one,, has to say it is the best, right?

Cheers,
Jerry 2200

I am hoping that Flight will be the base of a future sim from MS. I did do some reading on the LM sim and they did a lot of work to MSFS. It seems familiar though that its intent is to be a simulator for real world applications but for some reason is available to the public. That's my impression and opinion of course. I would be curious to see a review by a FS enthusiast of the LM sim.

Lower down in that post by Robert Randazzo , there is a post by someone called Rotation Films, and there is a Movie on there of Aerofs "I think thats a a simulation produce by Aerosoft" now that looks an incredible Platform , I don,t know whether its a work in progress or the finished item but it looks amazing. :D

PMDG will finish their current project, work on the 777, then overhaul the 747.
