1000 FPM Autolands

Here is where the coffee machine and Coke machine are kept. Please clean up after yourself and do not remove the magazines from this area. A good place to exchange thoughts with Operations personel and other pilots.

On occasion after a successfull engagement of the Autoland and everything looking good on finals ready for the flare the Autopilot decends at 1000FPM for the threshold resulting in a crash unless I cancel it and take over. I usually use FDC for the landing bug settings (yes the plane is under max landing weight) and add 5 knots to the VREF. Is there a common cause to this? Just wondering as most of the time I can setup and compelte a good Autoland but every now and then this happens. Any help greatly appreciated.

"Hi David, well I am no expert when it comes to autoland - I am usually hand flying all my approaches ... <!--emo&:P--><!--endemo--> But just as an idea: do you use a rw weather engine like AS2004 ? In that case maybe some sudden and extrem wind changes the autopilot cannot handle or wake turbulence generation ?"

"I'm no expert either, but if you have an add-on AFCAD2 file with the elevation off, it may be the cause of the problem. You might want to check to see if that's the issue where you had your 1000fpm autoland. Bob 1168"
