"Hey Guys, Just a quick clip! At the end of a long night flight from OMDB, N497MC finally rests at the crack of dawn
2 of the 10+ aircraft that were on VATSIM at VHHH can be seen in the background, had some fun ATC Comm. today
I am using SquawkBox for VATSIM and a freeware scenery for VHHH which I was pretty impressed about! It consists of 'realworld' stands and has photo-realistic terminals
Ross S PS. Sorry about the picture being a bit 'fizzy', It had to be largely compressed

"That VHHH scenery is pretty awesome. I like how the buses and carts spin to face your airplane, looks funny to see them spin like they do."

"Ross, I enjoy flying out of VHHH with Thomas Kwong's marvelous scenery. Just curious, at what real-world time of day where you flying to find this much activity at VHHH? FYI: For those interested in VHHH scenery for both FS9 and FSX go to (FS9)
http://www.swiremariners.com/cathayhk.html and (FSX)
http://www.swiremariners.com/cxhkg.html. These are sites for virtual Cathay Pacific Airways but also contain good links for scenery and AFCAD files."

"Gotta Tech question in regard to this scenery stuff. I have Ultimate Traffic, when you update the program, many times it includes Afcad's for various airports etc. Would DL'ing this scenery interfer with the already presently DL'd afcads? I saw somewhere possibly on this guy's scenery that a "read me" file said to make sure you go in and delete any VHHH stuff in your files. I know, kind of a dumb question, but my talents are not in the tech portion of FS and I never claim to have those talents
Also, I would like to add this scenery as VHHH is a popular airport, not to mention it will be equally popular with the addition of DHL to the VA, so is anyone up to sending me "Installing this scenery for dumbies" volume I ? Thanks guys!"

"The Afcad file(s) basically tell FS where the runways, taxiways and gates are. When you use an airport with the wrong afcad, you may end up with AI planes taxying in the grass. You could also have too few gates to handle all the AI, or some AI planes parking between gates or halfway into the terminal building. So it is best to use the afcad that came with the add-on scenery and get rid of any older afcad files for that same airport. To add a scenery, I usually put the files in a folder under the addon scenery folder. Say I put the VHHH into a folder called "VHHH" then my tree would look like: C:flight simulator 9Addon SceneryVHHH but the drive and main directory where your FS is installed may be different. The addon scenery should normally have a Scenery folder and a Texture folder and the Scenery folder would have one or more bgl files in there. So the entire tree would be C:flight simulator 9Addon SceneryVHHHScenery and C:flight simulator 9Addon SceneryVHHHTexture. Now start up FS9 and go to the Scenery Library and "Add" your scenery. You will have to point to the directory where the VHHH bgl files are stored. You can sort your sceneries but as a rule, the ones near the top of the list are small (individual airports) and the one near the bottom are large (up to entire continents). This way the VHHH scenery goes on top of the Asia scenery, and not the other way around. You will need to restart FS and it will rebuild the scenery indexes. That should do it."

Hey Rick, I usually start flying around 10:00 UTC (11:00 Local) on Saturdays if I cant fly during the week! I believe that this flight was flown on a Saturday! From what I can remember, I landed in Hong Kong around 17:00 - 18:00 UTC! There is usually a couple of people controlling the VHHH airspace anyhow, so you should get some ATC in whenever
Just so happened that there were a few people in the area at the time
