My First GC Flight

Post by 1691 »

"Well, here it is, the first of many videos I plan to post here as a result of my flying. Im sure it will all be annoying to you, but maybe not, well see. Anyhow, Polar was my first commercial airline that I worked for, starting in 1999 as a mechanic, and eventually got to fly almost every day as a flight mechanic as well. N924FT was a Tower aircraft (involved in an unfortunate fire under the wing incident in MIA) and through the graces of GE (who owned majority stake in PAC at one time) they took from them and gave to us. Some interesting notes as a result: -the ONLY PAC aircraft to undertake a "D" check (approx. 1 month to complete) while operated by PAC. -only PAC aircraf to have autothrottle, of course until the arrival of the -400s -First aircraft to have the new paint scheme -aircraft returned from "D" check (I remember it came in with a #3 engine power setting issue) and was then turned over to UPS for a 3 year lease -had a working oven, making the total working oven aircraft at PAC to 3 (N806FT and N920FT were the others) Anyhow, heres the video...leave a comment if you wish...thanks!!!!"

"Nice landing. :D I really the history on N924FT; specially the oven part, ahh the good old days when you could have a home baked pie with your coffee while crossing the ocean."

More interesting facts...the only 2 PAC aircraft to have the FFRATS system installed (but not active) were 922 and 923, both former Garuda planes. I recall them being immaculate as well. Only thing that sucked was they didnt have bunks, and you were forced to sleeping on long flights in one of the 4 Garuda first class seats on board."
