Hello All,
One of the most significant differences present here at Globe Cargo Virtual Airlines compared to many of our virtual airline counterparts is its constant attention to realism and detail. At any given time, changes are being made that continually set us far and above the every day VA's and put us in position as one of the elite VA's in existence. A major contributing factor to this is the fact that several of the members of management not only have real world airline experience, but real world experience in the particular part of the VA that they are responsible for. With that being said, please allow this NOTAM to serve as a general familiarization of the new enhance aircraft logbook.
By now, most of you are familiar with the process of reporting aircraft maintenance items through the website. In addition, you should be familiar with the entire maintenance operation as it pertains to the pilot as outlined here. Based on the information in that tutorial, please allow me to outline the enhancements now present.
-A two tier logbook is now in use. In short, there is now a DISCREPANCY section and a CORRECTIVE ACTION section. Pilot maintenance reports are added to the DISCREPANCY section, and maintenance actions and repairs are added to the CORRECTIVE ACTION section of the logbook. As the pilot in command, it is your responsiblity to ensure that there are no discrepancies listed that do not have a corrective action. It should become part of your daily routine to review the logbook prior to flight to ensure no MEL operational restrictions are in place, to become familiar with items that have been repaired that may repeat, and also for your general knowledge.
-The previous reported approach is also available for review as well. The previous reported approach, successful or not will be displayed at the top of the logbook for each aircraft. Most of this information is for your reference only.
So, whats the point of all this? Well its dynamic and serves several purposes. First, its easier to understand, and easier for the pilot to review the current maintenance status of the aircraft. Also, it adds a very realistic approach to the aircraft maintenace side of things. That said, please be sure to familiarize yourself with the new aircraft maintenance logbook system so to ease your transition smoothly and easily.
Also, bear in mind that there are still a few aircraft which have not been converted to the new system yet, but should be before the end of the day tomorrow.
