new guy again

Here is where the coffee machine and Coke machine are kept. Please clean up after yourself and do not remove the magazines from this area. A good place to exchange thoughts with Operations personel and other pilots.

new guy again

Post by jscharpf »

"Hi all, I just joined. I had been part of Globe Cargo way back when it first started up. Only flew a couple of flights. I missed flying my RFPB so I'm back and this time for sure lol. I have one question. Since I joined too late for the bids, if I go to the Polar flights, I see none available for the North American group (which I'm a part of). In this case am I allowed to fly one of the European or Asian or Atlas flights? Thanks Jeff"

If you joined after the bid period closed, you can pick any flight from the Open Board or from the Atlas Board."

"Hi Jeff, Welcome back to GC! The system is designed so that any flight you would not be allowed to take you will never see. Currently those flights are only the bid flights. Any scheduled flight that is not bid on is put into the open-board list and available to all pilots in all regions. Justin"

"awesome! Thanks for the replies! I love the new system, especially the dispatch release! The only change I would make is to shrink it down to fit on only a few pages instead of 19 lol Hope to do my first flight today. Regards, Jeff"

I agree and we will be looking at reducing the release when the new website is closer to completion. Justin"

"Welcome back Jeff! I think I remember you from ca. 2004-ish. I think we all agree with you on the dispatch too. (Justin, I think it would significantly reduce the number of pages if the .pdf would print in Portrait instead of Landscape!)"

"Eventually we will revert back to the format the dispatch originally was including printing in portrait rather than landscape. The addition of the runway data required the document to be printed in landscape but most of the runway data is not needed and isn't found on a real dispatch (in fact, completely different information about the rwys are on the real flight plan). Some of the runway data will remain but in a format that supports portrait printing. Justin"
