Problem with Internet Explorer 7 Beta.

Post by brendancg »

"I downloaded Internet Explorer Beta the other day and installed it. From that moment had major problems with FS9. All of a sudden FS9 would halt to load weather and two out of three times it would cause a crash to desk top as it seemed to be constantly looking for internet connection, thinking it was not open when in fact it was. This information is for those who are thinking of downloading IE7. Don't do what I did which is remove FS9 thinking that was what the prblem was when in fact it was IE7. I reinstalled FS9 and the CTD persisted. It was not until I saw a message on the internet about IE7 beta that I thought it might be the problem. Since removing IE7 guess what, no further problems."

"Weird. I had the Beta installed on my FS9 box and then the final version as well now that it is out. Never had a problem... There really shouldn't be anything in IE7 that interacts with FS9 - but who can say for sure with Microsoft... Did you try to install the final version? Tabbed browsing supposedly is nice in IE7. Mind you, I am a die-hard Firefox fan! :D"

"That's why I avoid updating anything Microsoft. You never know what's going to break. I don't understand why anyone wouild want to use anything but Firefox. My IE shortcut has so much dust on it, I have a tree growing out of my desktop."

"Funny but I too am a diehard fireafox fan. Just thought they offered it so I would download it. Bit of a junkie for some new stuff. I didn't like it anyhow, looks like a bad copy of Firefox."

Though Tomas got me to install FF a while back which got me hooked on tabs, I avoided upgrading to IE7. Because I use two computers regularly I decided to upgrad one of them to IE7. Though you guys might hate me for this (;)), I like the new tab system in IE7...they took what FF started and made it better/easier in my opinion. Justin"

There is a file that is located in the FS9 directory that can be deleted that resolves this problem. If you do a search on the AVSIM forums you'll be able to find it."
