Flying with ATC
"Again, there has been some interest in a little bit of instructing on how to fly on-line with ATC. Last time I tried this, not many people could make it. So this time around I will be trying a little different format. On Wednesday, December 27 at 1800Z (for our European pilots) and again the same day at 0200Z (9pm EST) I will get on our Teamspeak server to answer any and all questions about VATSIM. This includes required software/hardware, flightplans, how to communicate with ATC, reading charts, etc. Plus of course I will be able to answer any questions that anyone might have at that time. For those who don't know already, I am the Senior Instructor (I3) on VATSIM with the Seattle ARTCC. Since it is my virtual backyard, we will be going over Seattle related charts and clearances. You can find the charts you need on http://www.myairplane.com/databases/app ... KSEA&st=WA More info (including preferred routes) about Seattle can be found on our website: http://www.seaartcc.net/. Finally, for those who haven't already done so, go to the VATSIM Pilot Resource Centre for more info. (http://www.vatsim.net/prc) There is a lot of stuff in there so don't try to go through it everything at once. Look through it, make notes and then ask me questions on-line. Please, reply to this thread so that I know how many people to expect to each session!"
"Already then. It looks like the majority will be going for the 0200Z session so I will cancel the 1800Z one then... The things I am planning on covering is as follows: - Software set-up (SB3/FSInn/Teamspeak) - Hardware (headsets, sound cards) - Finding a route (KSEA-KSFO) - Filing a flight plan - Asking and reading back a clearance - Taxi instructions and reading airport diagrams (KSEA) - Take-off instructions and reading departure procedures (ELMAA7 and HAROB1) - En-route ATC comms - Arrival procedures - flying a STAR (GOLDN4) - Reading approach charts and the approach clearance (ILS 28R) - Q&A If anyone has any other other requests, please let me know or you can bring them up during the Q&A part at the end."

Hmm... Copy and paste this to the Server Address (I copied and pasted from my TS): globecargova.dnsalias.org Make sure the Anonymous login is checked under the Server Address and above the password. I had a similar problem getting connected on Teamspeak2 but was able to finally make it work. Under "Qucik Connect" I entered "Anonymous" in the Nickname line; left the "Login Name (Optional)" line blank; and entered "Globe" in the "password" line and it worked. Other combinations of using my name in the login name line reusted with error messages. Hope this helps.

That's strange. I tried reproducing what you see by changing the information and I get different errors. It almost sounds like your firewall is blocking TS from connecting to the internet. Check to make sure TS is allowed access to the internet by your firewall. Had you connected to the old TS server and not changed anything on your computer since then? If ever in doubt whether or not the TS server is running go to the new website and under GC Online click TeamSpeak. That will show you the channels and users currently online. If the webserver hosting TS or the TS server itself is not running the page will be blank.
