The latest AIRACs a little weird?
"Hi fellow airmen! I've noticed that the AIRACs you can download (for a fee) from Navigraph have quite many omissions/errors for the PMDG 744. At least I get many errors when I enter certain airports (like KORD for example) either as origin or destination (errors are about missing fixes). Also quite a few SIDs and STARs seem to be missing. Anyone else noticed this? The navdata that Richard Stefan used to provide was of MUCH better quality, IMHO and I'm actually thinking about reverting to the last AIRAC of his (which I still have on my HD). Petri"

"Frankly I am not too worried about missing fixes, SIDs and STARS. We have so many good sources of maps that I like to plan departures and arrivals directly into the FMC. If a given fix is missing we can create it using the FMC programming facilities. I think it is a great part of the fun. For Europe, Vatsim is a perfect supplier of maps. The regional section covering Germany, Austria and Switzerland is very well done with all current maps, notams etc. It is a bit less easy for Asian countries. Luc"

"After getting my LevelD 767 data screwed up by a freeware vendor, I stopped updating the AIRAC for my FMC equipped models. To me it isn't worth the trouble since the navaids and fixes rarely change, and I can download the chart and fly the DP or STAR manually anyhow. While flying the 742 I'm plugging it all in by hand into the CIVA so I don't need no AIRAC."

I have found that the R/ways of certain Airports within AIRAC do not conform to what is in FS9, therefore as the AIRAC is supposedly kept upto date, the fault must be the outdated info in FS9, I find that it is best to check and if the selected Airport info differs from FS9 its best to ignore the generic ATC and plot your course with the available stars to a suitable R/Way, EHAM springs to mind as does LEMD ( Madrid Barahas) in one case none of the Heathrow R/ways matched, Obviously it doesn,t apply if your in the 742 as its possible to alter the ILS within the Nav,which can,.t be done within PMDG if the airport info differs from the info within FS9. It's not PMDG's fault so it must be the data?
