An invitation to Globe Cargo Virtual Airlines

Here is where the coffee machine and Coke machine are kept. Please clean up after yourself and do not remove the magazines from this area. A good place to exchange thoughts with Operations personel and other pilots.

An invitation to Globe Cargo Virtual Airlines

Post by Jason Rivard UPS003 »

"Hi all, First, a little bit about myself. I am the VP of Operations over at UPS Virtual Air Cargo. About a year ago now I guess, we did an around the world tour with the newly released PMDG B747-400F. It was a huge hit, and we are looking to relive the fun again. I am working closely with your very own Craig Applegate to come up with real world flight dispatches that would have us hitting some very interesting airports through-out our journey. (Don't want to let the cat out of the bag, but a couple of flights will separate the men from the boys (unless my better half is flying, then it will be the women from the boys <G>). I am formally inviting all of you to join us if you are interested. I am shooting to start the event a week from Saturday (March 17th) provided Craig gets me the info I need. We will be starting our around the world journey in Ontario California so if you haven't already, head to avsim.com and download the amazing KONT scenery for FS2004. I am opening it up in our VA to any heavy, so you can expect to see a mix of 744's, 742's, 763's, and MD-11's on our ramp. Departure time is tentatively set for noon eastern, 9 am pacific. This will allow our German pilots to join us as well. I apologize to you west coasters for the early morning. Flightplan to follow, and I hope to see you all there! Blue skies, Jason Rivard"

"The flights are flown on Vatsim, but do to the locations there wont be ATC coverage for the whole trip, it's more of hit and miss. If you miss a week not to worry..there are many legs in the event. This just an ooportunity for people to fly to some different places and to build some commeradery."

I will also try to make it but it doesn't look too hopeful right now. My saturdays are usually booked from 10a-6p and if something cancels I can probably make it I hope. This is a good opportunity to mingle with our freight-brothers at UPS :) Justin

"Hi all, Craig has sent me over a PDF dispatch for the flight. I will cut and paste what I put in our forum to save me from having to type it twice! All of the information I am listing below is found in the following document: http://www.upsvac.com/jrivard/leg1kontmroc.pdf --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Now that the route has been finalized, we can announce the first leg will depart Saturday March 17 from KONT and go to MROC. I am also going to open the flight up to any heavies this time. You may join us in your B767-300, B747-200, B747-400, and MD-11. The route is as follows: KONT JLI J93 PPE UL655 NAU UA552 AUR UG436 LIB TOMAS MROC Estimated time enroute will be 4 hours, 45 minutes. For those using the PMDG 747...you may use the load editor to match the following numbers as closely as possible to add to the realism. Cost Index: 30 ZFW: 276691 kg Fuel: 73239 kg Takeoff Gross Weight: 349030 kg Altitude: FL330 with a step-climb to FL350 later in the flight Alternate airport: MPTO (routing as follows: MROC PARAIS ISEBA UG440 TBG MPTO) KONT Charts: Airport Diagram: http://www.myairplane.com/databases/app ... 0965AD.PDF MROC charts: Airport Diagram: http://www.costaricaaviation.com/charts ... PT_DIA.PDF ILS RWY 07: http://www.costaricaaviation.com/charts ... RWY_07.PDF Departure time will begin at noon eastern, 9 am pacific. I'd like to space the departures about 5 mins or so, to prevent from bunching up and causing an ATC nightmare if at all possible. We will see you there! Jay"

"Teamspeak is available for today for when we are not in controlled airspace. It'd be nice to meet some of you! I dunno how well i'll be talking, I had some surgery on my mouth yesterday and it hurts to talk. Anyhow, the Teamspeak address is: 76.104.109.215:8767"

"Sorry I could not be there, but I tried Vatsim a few times before and I have a problem that happens only when flying on Vatsim. Stabilizer trim seems to go out of wack by himself. Will try to reinstall Squawkbox and see how it goes."
