New Computer
"After five years of fighting a losing battle for fps on my old machine, I finally broke down and bought a new computer over the weekend. The specs are in my signature. So far I have loaded FSX deluxe SP1 with no add-on, except for the Feelthere ERJ-145. With all sliders set around 75% of maximum, I get an acceptable 18-25 fps but I would have expected more. Maybe that's due to the inferior video card. I am planning to upgrade to a DX10 capable 768MB nVIDIA 8800GTX. I am new to Vista and FSX so any suggestions or comments are welcome."

"Sounds great, but you Graphics card might not be powerful enough. I have an ATI 1950xtx 512 and get crap for rates on FSX (4-10 with anything that makes it look like FSX). That is why I still use fs2004, plus I have about 300 dollars in addons, some that have yet to upgrade to FSX, (ahem, PMDG, ahem...) Also I should add, to not discourage you, but I am not very inept at computers, and have not tried tweaking to card, so others my get better results; Also congrats on the new system, sounds cool!"
