Invalid Flight Number but PIREP Uploads Successfully

Post by ubrownjr »

"I found an issue with FS Flightkeeper. Uploading an EK flight number does not work the following error occurs: Invalid Flight Number: EK9903 Must be a PO, 5Y or ES flight with two, three or four digits! Example: PO123 I was able to connect to LiveACARS. Any suggestions?"

"The folowing is coppied form the NOTAM section: "NOTAM: PIREP Flt Numbers To All Pilots Just a friendly reminder that when you file a PIREP please use the correct codes for the Flight Numbers. All POLAR flights will be POxxx (x=flight number) All other flight regardless if they are Atlas, Emerates, Florida West, Qantas, Air New Zealand should be filed as 5Yxxxx (x=flight number) This applies to FSACARS and FSFK. Also when and if you fly online use your GC Pilot ID as the flight number for ALL flights, but PIREP using PO or 5Y Thank you""

"So what is the status of the "Report MX issues" I had a compressor stall in N492MC, and that should probably be reported, but I don't know where!! Can't wait for that feature to become operational."

"Here's a bug for you, Tomas. If you click on a pilot number on the FSACARS map, you will be logged in as that pilot. On the main GC page it will still show your correct pilot number, but it will say "Welcome Other Pilot". I just clicked on pilot 1417 on the FSACARS page and it logged me in as Michael Schmitt. So, I went to the open board flights and selected GT822 KATL-EHAM. Now it shows Michael Schmitt as claiming that flight (I really would like to fly that one, BTW). This might be a big headache if you clicked on a pilot, then went to select your monthly bids. It certainly explains how I had "claimed" a couple of open board flights in the past, even though I hadn't. You will remain logged in as that pilot, until you click another pilot, log out or close the browser. I don't know if the FSFK page does the same thing, since no one is currently flying. BTW, I'm using Firefox 1.5, WinXPPro, and I have the "remember me" option selected on the login. (Just tested it with the remember me unchecked, and also with IE. Getting the same results.)"

Yup! Same thing  I tried it just in case it was only a problem for Ewing, but I had the same when i clicked on the pilots number! I clicked on Michael Patton's number and seen his current PIREPs. I then clicked on the Home link and it said 1425 in bold (which is my number), but says next to it "Welcome Captain Michael Patton" :?:  Very Strange :?"

"Interesting bug. Thanks for finding this one. I fixed this and confirmed that it was isolated to this page. Since this was a pretty severe breach of security on the site, I won't go into any technical details of what was wrong or what I did to fix it..."

"Glad you caught my post quickly and all is well. Not much you can do being logged in as another pilot, except bid on flights. Although, I suppose I could have had some fun with Michael's profile... "
