Problems with GCP V2.2

Problems with GCP V2.2

Post by Greg Goodavish »

OK, I deleted GCP V2.1, and installed V2.2. Now I am getting errors when trying to download the AC and flights. The message I am getting is as follows:

Length cannot be less than zero
Parameter name: length, Error dowloading aircraft file

Anyone else having this problem?

I'll look into this in more detail. I've seen this a number of times in testing. With more detail than your PM message do this: go to GCP folder and delete GCP.ini (will just show as GCP if you don't have show extensions turned on). You will not loose any data but you will have to go thru Tools>User Setup again and click save. It should work normal after that. I believe the problem to be whenever I add a new variable that's saved to the ini the program has trouble reading the data when it comes time to load the old ini into the new build of GCP.

If I delete the GCP.ini file, do I have to download it again from the website?

Nope, GCP.ini is created when you run the program if it doesn't already exist. Since you are deleting GCP.ini it no longer exists so when you run GCP the next time the popup box will ask you to go to Tools>User Setup and GCP.ini will be created at that time.

Greg,

This may have an obvious answer, but did you delete 2.1 then try to install the 2.2 "update" which would give you an incomplete install? Or, did you delete 2.1 and install the 2.2 core?

The reason I ask is that if you downloaded and installed the update, there is no need to uninstall 2.1.

Real quick (I hope) I just want to make sure I get all the files I need .... I have downloaded the new GCP221 full zip (file size 3 megs) ... do I still need the update GCP221 (file size 750kb) as well???? And i am assuming I need to Uninstall my previous version (from October version 2.1 I think) and install this new one?

Hope everyone has a Happy Thanksgiving..

Mike,

If you already had 2.2 installed, then install just the 2.2.1 update. That will bring 2.2 up to 2.2.1. You should be OK if you do it in that order.

So that update 2.2.1 is just that to improve on this last up date (GCP221). The full install is then the one I need to do. I have 2.1 from October i think so I know what to do.
Thanks.

KMEM>KSAN completed, GCP v 2.2.2.2.2.2.2.2.2.2.2.2.2.2.2 worked really well! Just kidding you Justin, actually, if it were not for the installers, I would really have this thing mucked up for sure by now. So no problem with installers. I think it insures that everyone gets the thing installed alike and it makes for a more uniform interpretation of the issues when they arise. The program worked fine as far as I can tell. My only difference was FS indicated I flew 4.4 hours, and GCP said I flew 3. ? something for block time.

I got your email about that issue. I don't know how FS logs its flights, I really doubt it's based on realistic block out conditions (pax door closed and park brake released). It may just be when FS is ready to let you fly but you still need to go thru your preflight checks. FS might be willing to pay you for doing your preflight but I sure am not! (see, I can be a smart a$$ too ;) )

Happy Thanksgiving to those celebrating it!

I hadn't thought about that, now that you mention it, I think the clock in FS starts by you just being in the cockpit.
