Error Msgs with GCP 2.21

Post by Greg Goodavish »

OK, I tried the new GCP V2.21 today. It worked and logged my flight fine. However, when opening it, I get numerous error msgs. I just click on "OK" for each of them, and the utility works fine. Just wondering how to get rid of these msgs. They are:

1. Length cannot be less than zero
Parameter name: Length error loading scLdACManufacturer

2. Length cannot be less than zero
Parameter name: length error loading szLdACModel

3. Length cannot be less than zero
Parameter name: Length error loading szLdACICAO

4. Length cannot be less than zero
Parameter name: Length error loading szLdGCAircraft

5. Length cannot be less than zero
Parameter name: Length error loading szLdSingleEngine

6. Length cannot be less than zero
Parameter name: Length error loading szLdMultiEngine

7. Length cannot be less than zero
Parameter name: Length error loading szLdProp

8. Length cannot be less than zero
Parameter name: Length error loading szLdTurbine

9. Length cannot be less than zero
Parameter name: Length error loading szLdComplex

10. Length cannot be less than zero
Parameter name: Length error loading szLdHighPerformance

I tried opening GCP before starting MSFS, after starting it, and even after posting my first flight with it. I still get the same messages.

Greg, not sure but I think there is a post in regard to this already? If I am correct, Justin may have posted the fix for it.

Ah yes, this was supposed to have been fixed in GCP2.2.1 but maybe you have another issue. All these errors are coming from trying to load your logbook file. If you could, please send me your Logbook.txt file in an email to gcp@globecargova.org and I'll take a gander at what might be causing it. The rest of GCP will work fine even w/ these errors as the problem is in the logbook display only.

Oops, sorry, this is a different problem. Disregard the discussion about the logbook. This error comes from trying to load the aircraft types (aircrafttypes.dat). Strangely, I too am getting these errors which I didn't get previously. A couple of strange things that I've notice is that the ATR shows up twice after clicking thru the errors, if I take out aircrafttypes.dat and rebuild it from within GCP (Tools>Add>Aircraft Type) it works fine but only if GCP is started directly from the .exe in the main GCP folder. If I try to start GCP from the shortcut I get the errors again. I am looking into this...

Ok, try reinstalling GCP221_Update.exe. No need to uninstall what you currently have. I didn't get the errors anymore after I reinstalled. Let me know if that works.

I have gotten the same problem... but only when I start GCP2.21 from my start menu not the icon on the desktop. I un-istalled and reinstalled sever times on turkey day till I figured out it worked fine from my desktop ICON. Weird cause i thought both areas were only shortcuts of the .exe in the programs folder.

Try logging a few flights, and then see what happens. It fixed the issue for me when I had it.
