I assume Polar sold that plane, and to me I say good riddance. Those engines are a piece of crap. They look like GEs, but are in fact PW JT9-70A engines, and I believe only 5 or 6 aircraft are in operation with them worldwide. The engines were a retrofitted version of the JT9-49A/50A that were used on the DC-10. Anyhow, from my former Polar days, I can tell you that the engine change sucked on that plane, opening the cowlings sucked on that plane, and any work related to the reverser also was no picnic. The only really neat thing was that it was, at the time, the only Polar airplane to sport a Penny and Giles digital engine display, like all the Atlas 742s have now.

I sure wish someone could have made the digital engine display for the RFP 747 panel....that would have been perfect..
