Captian Sim

Here is where the coffee machine and Coke machine are kept. Please clean up after yourself and do not remove the magazines from this area. A good place to exchange thoughts with Operations personel and other pilots.

Captian Sim

Post by peter »

I am an avid PMDG flyer. Over the weekend I downloaded Captian Sim freight package - I thought it would be a nice change of pace.

It is OK but nothing like PMDG. It cost me about $100 for the package.

If you want a change of pace ( and you have not lost all your money in the market and have $100 left) from 744 and take a DHL charter I would recomend it but it has a ways to go to compete with PMDG.

I have it but it is gathering dust in the hangar. Captain Sim does a good job at graphics and their planes look fantastic but the flight model and frame rates leave a lot to be desired in my opinion.

One issue i could resolve is the view on the 2-D pannel - hard to see in front of you - impossiable for VFR landing - how do i move the horizion?

Peter

Try "Shift+Enter" to move your view up, and "Shift+Backspace" to move your view down.

I dont believe shift backsapce / enter works to move horizon in FSX - are you on FSX?

Most instrument panels are not VFR friendly. Even in the single engine aircraft, as soon as I got away from the 152, I began seeing this. Even in VFR weather, I dial in the ILS and use it as a guide so I don't have to depend upon my visual ability over a "stacked" console.

Which is SOP in the real world. If you are arriving on a runway with any kind of electronic guidance you use it to confirm it's the correct runway.

Pull up your key assignments list from your window menu, it should tell you what key is assigned to this function.

Peter is correct that shift backspace / enter does not work in FSX as in FS9. I usually reduce the zoom to 70% or 60% as a zoom of 100% is not realistic IMO.
